Aries ascending tends to better-than-average height, spare body, rather elongated face and neck. The complexion is often ruddy; the hair may be red or 'sandy' in color. The frontal area of the head is usually pronounced. The eyebrows may be heavy and tend to bridge the nose. The forehead can be rather wide and the chin pointed. It is probable there may be scars or marks about the head. In the male, the Adam's apple may protrude more than normal.

TAURUS:

Taurus ascending usually gives a solid, hard body of about average height. There is a tendency to plumpness of the torso. Usually, the face is square, the neck rather short and big. There is a general fullness to all the facial and bodily features. The eyes may be prominent or slightly protruding. The hair tends to the lighter shades of brown. The shoulders may be wide and square, chest thick. The nostrils may be flared, especially when they are angry. The hands may be somewhat 'pudgy.'

GEMINI:

Normally, Gemini ascending causes the native to be rather slender, erect, and of average or less-than-average height. The legs frequently are 'birdlike.' They seldom have an overweight problem because of their abundant nervous energy. The body is best described as wiry. The arms tend to be rather long and thin; fingers may be likewise. The face seems to be 'double"' – there may be a cleft in the chin and even tip of the nose, which may be slightly hooked and sometimes reddish. Hair tends to dark brown.

CANCER:

Cancer ascendants are often nicely curved. Adults frequently have rather broadhips and tend to put on a bit of weight in that area. Height is normally short to medium. The arms may have a crab-like motion; legs tend to be short and stocky. Feet and hands may be small and delicate. There may be a noticeable undulating gait to the walk. The face is usually round, Moon-shaped, and the profile may be inwardly curved as the Moon appears when not full.

LEO:

Leo ascending normally is tall, broad-shouldered, and large of frame. There is a tendency to put on weight after a streamlined youth. Often the hair appears'sunshine bright.' The smile may be broad and beaming. The brisk walk and carriage is regal – full of pride and dignity, and may be even pompous at times. On many, the hair grows low and thick on the neck, much as the lion's mane. Everything about the face seems to be 'generous' in size and proportion

VIRGO:

Virgo ascending tends to average height, average weight, and an angular but solid build. Usually, the shoulders and hips are fairly wide. It may be easy to tack on a few pounds of extra weight. Facial features are typically small but nicely shaped. The nose may be slightly hooked at the end. Complexion tends to be fair and smooth. The bone structure of the face usually makes this ascendant-type quite photogenic. The walk is often smooth and graceful. Generally, the appearance might be described as 'clean-cut.'

LIBRA:

Usually, the body is well-formed, inclined to be tall, slender, with a tendency toward stoutness in middle age. The hair is well kept and typically dark or black in color. Because of the Venus influence, many Libra ascendants can be termed 'beautiful' in appearance. Features usually are nicely shaped; teeth may be 'pearly,' lips generous and finely chiseled. Many have naturally curly hair. Usually, there is a pleasant roundness to all features.

SCORPIO:

The height is usually above average. Scorpio ascending makes for a stout body generally and a face which may seem 'stuffed' or 'puffy.' The eyes may be large and penetrating; they may be the outstanding facial feature. Hair typically is black, thick, coarse – often curly. The nose may be seen as 'Roman.' Skin might be sallow and somewhat oily. The walk may be quick and 'bouncy.'

SAGITTARIUS:

'Distinguished looking' is a term which will describe many with Sagittarius ascending. The native may be rather tall and large but not overweight until well past middle age. The face, like Jupiter, tends to be roundish and jovial, somewhat elongated. The teeth may be largeand can protrude. The hair is dark in youth but impressively white in later years. There often is a tendency to stamp or scrape the feet.

CAPRICORN:

The stature is normally average to slightly less than average. The chest area is usually rather flat; and, the body in general tends toward being lean, except for the legs, which more likely than not will be heavy. Ankles frequently are thick. The facial features may tend to be rather small and sharp or pointed in appearance. Oftentimes the skin and hair will be darker than other members of the same family not having Capricorn ascending. The hair is very dark, often black

AQUARIUS:

Aquarius ascending often gives what might be termed a 'striking' appearance. Height tends to be average to above. The build is full and square in most respects. The waist may be long. The facial features are usually rather even and might be called 'handsome.' This ascendant probably has an excellent profile. The walk may be sudden and eccentric – like the thinking processes of this unpredictable native.

PISCES:

Pisces ascending tends to be relatively small and well proportioned. They may put on extra weight later in life. Arms and legs usually are short; hands may be small and 'artistic.' This ascendant tends often to give the individual large, dreamy eyes and long, thick lashes. The mouth and lips may be soft and sensitive; the nose small and well formed. There is a tendency toward a double chin, even a triple chin if much overweight. The feet may be unusual in some way.
