Prologue
"So what am I going to do?" I asked with tears falling down my caramel cheek.
I got kicked out my house after admitting to my mother that was pregnant. Devin put his arm around me and softly kissed me on the cheek. He was the only person I had in all this drama. He wasn't my baby's daddy, but he was the closest person I had to raise this child with.
"You can stay with me. I'm not going to leave you, alright?" Devin said as I put my head on his chest. I just nodded my head creating a wet patch on his t-shirt. "Listen," he picked up my head by my chin and looked me straight in my eyes, "I love you, aight? Nobody in this world is going to change that, not Jarell, not your mother, and not even Kristy. It's just me and you against everyone."
All I could do was stare at him with tears still filling my eyes. How was I going to go get through these next nine months? I didn't want to be another statistic. I just knew that things weren't supposed to start out like this.
