Chapter Fifteen
Charisma
Two Months Later...
It's been two months really, and I have been taking real good care of my little angel. I didn't tell Jarell about the pregnancy, but I knew I had to. It wasn't all my fault though. He had been on vacation with his parents for the past few weeks. We didn't get to talk much, so it was just me and Devin. He was such a big help. He took me to school, work, and to my hospital appointments.
"Let me help you out," Devin said coming around the car.
"Damn, Devin, I'm only two months pregnant, not eight. I can walk myself," I laughed, but he still helped me out and carried my bag. "You are crazy."
As we walked across the street to the school, he put his arm around me.
"I know."
We walked inside the school, and everybody started looking at us crazy.
What the hell is everybody looking at? I thought.
Thank God it was my last year of high school. Despite all of the stares, I just kept making my way to my locker. It knew it was going to be a slow day since my baby Jarell wasn't coming to school. I closed my locker and saw Toya looking at me like something was wrong.
"What's wrong, Toya?" I asked.
She grabbed my hand, and we walked into the nearest girl's bathroom. Toya immediately locked the door. She was tripping. "Damn, what's going on?"
"Girl, we got problems," she said pacing back and forth.
"Like what, girl? Is it that serious to lock me and you in the bathroom?"
"Everybody in the school knows that's you're pregnant."
I looked at her in disbelief and started laughing. "Stop playing, girl. Seriously, what's going on?"
Her look remained so serious that I couldn't help but believe her. Tears streamed down my face as she came over and gave me a hug. I started hearing banging on the door, so I quickly wiped away my tears and unlocked the door. When I walked out of the bathroom, all these girls came through the door and gave me a cold look. I didn't have time for their judgment, so I just went to class. I couldn't believe that everyone in school knew I was pregnant and calling me a hoe.
"Ms. Williams, they want you at the office," Ms. Denver said.
I got up, and everybody was watching my every move. I just rolled my eyes and kept walking out. When I got in the hallway, I saw Devin standing in front of my locker
"Let's go to lunch."
"I got to go to the office though," I said with my tears in my eyes.
"I sent that note. Now let's go," he said as we walked outside to his car.
"Umm, you heard about his rumor going around?" I asked. He turned the other way trying not to face me, but I stopped him on the stairs. "Devin, look at me."
"Yeah, I heard."
"So what are we gonna do?"
"Can we talk about this over some lunch?"
We walked out to the parking lot. Devin wanted to go to Taco Bell. Once we got there, we ordered our food and sat down. I was starving, so I ordered three Burrito Supremes and a Nacho Supreme. When our food was ready, Devin just stared at me as I hurried to munch on my nachos.
"What?"
"Shit, the way you eating makes you look so damn sexy," he said licking his lips. I just rolled my eyes and kept on eating.
