Fucking fuck. Life right now. I slam the shovel into the ground with frustration. It's been four months since I've seen anyone or even heard anyone in these woods. I plant a few squash seeds in the hole I made and cover them up. And today of all days is Easter. I bet town is roaring with people running home to their family.
I haven't seen Elle at all since Christmas. I miss her. And her pussy. I should've never let her go. I smell my t shirt. And smile. She left me some Alpine Suede from bath and body works. That woman I swear. Even though she scratched out her brothers name, and put mine I still can't believe I had the chance to have her. And then my stupid ass let her go.
I grab my shovel and wield it over my shoulder. I set it next to the door of the cabin and walk in. The mountain breeze blows on one window and out the next. The pine still stands in its corner, garland, bulbs, with the plaid shirt. Only it's in a pot of soil. I turn to the kitchen an pour myself the last cup of coffee. "Cedar, want to go fishing ?" Cedars head pops up from the couch. "Let's go." I pour the coffee into my thermos and we head out.

The lake is silent, no wind at all. Just birds chirping. I pop a beer open and suck it down throwing the empty can into the cooler grabbing another. My bobber bobs so I set the can down and slowly reel in then stop, reel then stop. Repeating this till my sinker is taken by force under the smooth water. I yank and start reeling in.
As soon as the fish gets closer to the shore Cedar jumps in and grabs it. I bellow as the fish flips and flaps in his mouth. "Good boy!" I grab the fish, measure it, thirteen inches. I grab the knife from its holster on my pants pocket and cut its head off.
I throw it in the cooler and grab my beer. I connect the hook to the pole and grab my cooler. Tugging my Pole and cooler along as Cedar and I walk back to the cabin.
I start filleting the fish as soon as I get into the shed. Four neatly cut pieces of meat lay in front of me. I toss two in the freezer after putting them in a zip lock bag and the other two back in my cooler.
I enter the cabin and go straight to the sink. Washing the fish and then throwing them into the pan already on the stove. I light the flame and toss the fish. I walk to the cupboard and grab my last can of veggies. Carrots.
I slam the can onto the kitchen island. A build up of anguish, and anger are about to erupt from my mouth until I hear a mesmerizing voice. A voice I know. The most beautiful tone my ears have ever heard. That hym. I look up.
"Hello?"
