The Soulless

Chapter 7

We left around ten o' clock. Amara had made us breakfast and we had taken some thermals to hold water in.

I grabbed a bag to stuff some food into it. It was going to slow me down but we will have a better chance of surviving with food.

Brent and I were walking and holding hands. Amara was like my best friend now also, I just kind of wish she had someone.

Phoebe too. Oh my gosh! How cute would that be!

"Alright, we are passing through a highway," Brent started. ""Stay low and be quick, speed and sight are their best abilities."

I was scared, what is Phoebe going to do?

Brent dropped down to his stomach. He army crawled through the highway, stopping a few times to avoid a soulless seeing him, they are crawling all over the place.

Amara followed after, she was extremely slow.

I let Phoebe go first. She made me laugh. She butt scooted across the highway and keeping her head down low.

I crawled after. I had almost made it too the end but I hit a rock and it hit one of the soulless.

It ran towards me. I got up and sprinted towards the others.

Brent pulled out his gun and shot one.

I bashed another's head in with my gun and Phoebe and Amara were fighting off the ones around Brent.

Finally they were all killed.

I ran to the woods with the others following behind.

We got Phoebe to a stream. She washed out her mouth.

Brent was holding my hand.

"Hey Evelyn, are you sweating?" he asked.

"No?" I replied, kind of confused of why he asked that. "Why?"

"Your arm is like dripping something."

We both broke eye contact and looked down at my arm.

"Evelyn!" Brent screamed. I was bitten! "Oh my gosh."

I started getting a little dizzy. Brent helped me to the stream and I washed out my arm. But I was still feeling weird.

"Evelyn hang in there." Brent said while squeezing my hand.

"Brent your being ridiculous! I'm fine!" I told him and tried to stand up, but I instantly collapsed.

"Evelyn!" he screamed. He picked up my now limp arm and tried to suck out the venom.

"Brent it burns!" I screamed.

"Evelyn please!" he tried to stay strong but I know he was scared.

"Help me!"

"I'm trying!"

"Brent please! It burns! Help! Ah!" I screamed.

"Evelyn stay with me, I love you!" he begged. Those were the last words I heard before I lost all consciousness.
