"Thank's for saving me back there, that was a really brave thing to do!"

"It was nothing." Said Tobias with what seemed like a slight blush at the flattery, but who could really tell in the dead of night when all there was to light the path was the moon and the stars floating above.

"Well if you ever change your mind..." said Lauren with a wink and a flirtatious smile.

As I listened to the rest of their conversation with a tinge of irritation, I didn't realized we had already reached the other side and the climb wasn't at all as hard as I thought it would be. The fact that Tobias and Lauren were talking over me as if I didn't exist bugged me a little.

One last run through the deep woods and we would be there. Wherever there was.

The night sky was littered with handfuls of bright twinkling stars and the waves were viciously crashing against the cliffside below. A forty meter drop down and if I were to fall there would be no one at the bottom to catch me. We stood in a line so close to the edge of the cliff that I could make out the silhouettes of every sharp rock from the foot of the cliff to where they disappeared into the endless vast sea. I stood there breathing in the fresh yet salty scent of the ocean, Uriah on my left, Tobias on my right and Lauren on his right, and if you ask me she was standing a little too close to Tobias, and he didn't seem to mind either. Why would he. Lauren was definitely more pretty than I would probably ever be. But maybe Tobias saw something else in me, something that I possessed that she didn't. One by one the others started jumping into the murky waters below. Each one free falling then disappearing beneath the waves for a few seconds before their heads bobbed back up to the surface. No one fell and hit a rock and for the most part no one was injured, but I was still a little skeptical about purposefully plummeting 40 meters into the ocean and into my potential death.

Tobias had never been a big fan of heights, but even then he grabbed my hand squeezed it gently, and the gesture was already making me feel more confidant.

"Jump on the count of three." said Tobias, and even he himself seemed to be a little unsure.

"Wait what?" I said not yet ready to jump.

"Three" He started counting down

"Your crazy!" I said, my heartbeat quickening.

"Two" I shut my eyes and squeezed Tobias's hand tightly.

"Aren't we all Tris?"

"All what?" I squeaked as my mind went blank with both fear and a weird feeling of anticipation

"One!"

I felt myself jump even though everything in me was telling me to do otherwise.

I shrieked as We plummeted towards the vast blue ocean, but the feeling of thrill was overwhelming and I felt free at that moment, as if nothing was holding me back, as if the world wasn't pitting itself against me and everybody important to me.

"CRAZY!!!" yelled Tobias loudly as we fell.

Aren't we all just crazy beneath everything else? Aren't we all just desperate, chasing the things that are important and letting nothing stop us. No matter how crazy the plan was, we would still try, and when all odds were against us we wouldn't stop fighting, wouldn't stop until we got there, wouldn't give up without knowing that we had given it everything we've got.

I hit the cold water with such an impact as an asteroid might hit the earth's atmosphere. My skin was burning up despite the coldness of the water around me. While Struggling underwater despite our thrashing my hold on Tobias's hand still remained constant. We reached the surface of the water together in unison. Tobias took my other hand and pulled me in closer towards him, and once again I was completely immune to the cold around me. I looked at him. He looked at me, and suddenly nothing else in the world mattered. I didn't think about it, I just leaned in and kissed him pulling him yet even closer, and he kissed me back with such intensity and such passion that I never wanted to leave this moment behind. So be it if I catch pneumonia. So be it if I die.

We sat back atop the cliff after the jump and the first signs of dawn were streaked and painted across the sky. I leaned in closer to Tobias, resting my head against his shoulder as we watched the sunrise together. Lauren was completely out of sight and I was glad... Maybe a little too glad, but at that time all I hoped for was to enjoy the moment and make it last as long as possible, engrave it into my mind and never forget it.

The journey to the cliff was hard and especially since Lauren was also there, but spending time with Tobias and feeling the freedom of jumping off a cliff was all worth it. I had made my decision. I was going to become a part of them. My life was going to change beyond recognition, and the old me would never have even considered this but the new me was ready.

Ready for anything.
