The One For Me

Chapter 1

Anna's POV***

I wake up to a loud sound coming from downstairs with lots of yelling following it. Must be my stupid brothers fighting again, I thought glancing at my clock. It was only 6 AM, and I usually sleep in until at least 6:45 on school days. 

Well I'm up now so might as well do something productive! I thought. 

I walked downstairs and rolled my eyes at my two brothers as I watched them fight over who gets the biggest pancake. Ugh boys and their food. 

As I walked from the dining room into the kitchen, I was greeted by Nancy, the nanny. "Good morning Anna! Your parfait is sitting at the counter." 

"You're literally the best" I gushed, taking my seat and quickly scarfing down my parfait. I know what you may be thinking, I'm one of those girls who is obsessed with tracking her calorie intake and no carbs in anything, but I'm quite the opposite. I'm not afraid to eat a hamburger and fries if that's what I'm feeling. 

I used to be overweight and very self conscious about my body, but now I feel good. The past summer I bought a gym membership which surprisingly got rid of a lot of my stress and my fat! 

Looking at the clock, I decided I should start to get ready for school. Just two more months, I need to push through. 

I curled my blonde hair loosely, applied a little bit of makeup, and put on a t-shirt dress with tall boots. I love looking cute for school. 

7:45, perfect. I grabbed my book bag for the day and hopped into my brand new Jeep Wrangler. My dad let me pick out any brand new car I wanted because it was my 'sweet sixteen' but I think it was more because he felt bad for always being gone for work. Both of my parents are very hard workers, and don't spend their time at home which is why we have Nancy. My father works for Apple, and gets paid a ridiculous amount of money, and my mother is a fashion designer, so it's safe to assume my family is pretty wealthy.  

I parked in my usual spot, up by the front of the building, and happily walked into the cafeteria where everyone hangs out in the mornings. 

"Hey guys!" I smiled as I saw my friends, "Long time no see" I joked given that we all had a study session just yesterday night. 

Everyone groaned at the topic of our AP Calculus test. I was lucky enough to have it first period. 

"Oh my gosh, not again" Alyssa said, her voice filled with annoyance. 

I followed her line of vision and saw Blake Matthews making out with some slut called Britney at their table. 

"New girl, new week, same Blake" I sighed, feeling slightly pissed off that these girls throw themselves at him without any self-respect. 

The five minute bell rang, our cue to get to class. I locked arms with my best friend Mason as we walked towards first period. 

"So, how's Jen?!" I couldn't help but ask. Jen isn't exactly as popular as my friends and I are, but she is really kind and pretty. Mason had secretly liked Jen for a long time, but hadn't had the courage to ask her out until just a few weeks ago. 

"She's good. I still can't tell if she's into me or not, she's not exactly an open book." He said with a hint of sadness laced in his tone. 

"Aw Mase, I find it hard to believe that anyone could resist you. She'll come around and open up to you soon enough." I reassured him.

He grunted and took his seat next to me when we entered the classroom.

Overall, my day was pretty boring other than a few rumors going on that Blake and Britney were already done. Wouldn't have surprised me.

I glanced at Blake as last period was coming to an end and he was flirting with one of my close friends, April. She wasn't giving in, and looked completely uninterested in whatever compliments he was giving her. That's what I love about April, she has values and sticks to them. 

The bell rang signaling the end of the day and I quickly approached April. 

"What was that whole thing about with you and Blake?" I raised my eyebrows up and down in a suggestive manner. 

She rolled her eyes, "Same old garbage. He was trying to get me to go to his party on Friday night but I showed no interest as always."

Strange. Blake never has parties at his house. I would know this because he just happens to be my next door neighbor. Nice to know when he actually does decide to have a party, he doesn't even have the decency to ask me. Not that I care anyways, I always get invited to parties, but have never actually gone to one. 

I went to my car and drove home. I couldn't help but notice a yellow punch bug in Blake's driveway when I pulled up to my gate, and wonder who's it was. It was actually quite fun playing the guessing game of who Blake's screwing today.

I clicked the button and the gates opened allowing me to enter. I parked my car in the fourth garage to the left, as usual. Oh did I mention that my dad is a proud collector of cars? Yeah, we have 10 garages total. People probably think we're crazy. 

"Hello?" I called into the big, seemingly empty house. My brothers were at school, my parents were at work, and Nancy was probably running errands. 

"Hi honey!" I heard my mom say.

"Mom?!" I was so excited, my mom is never home after school. I ran to the kitchen to find her standing there with a bag. 

"What's this?" I asked, a confused look on my face. 

"Well I got this for you, and I just wanted you to try it on to see if you like it before I say anything." She smiled. 

I quickly tried on the gorgeous dress and fell in love instantly. "Mom, I love it!" I screamed as I ran down to show her. I could tell it was made by her based on the logo. 

"Great! There's an event for your father's work on Thursday night, and our family will be attending. You will wear this. We're going to be sharing a table with one of your father's new partners and need to look nice." I knew mom would never let me go to something like this without making me look fabulous. I mean she's a fashion designer, can you blame her?! 

"Is Apple releasing the latest iPhone?" I asked eagerly. 

"Good guess" my mom laughed. It's always exciting to see what kind of crazy technology Apple comes up with. 

My mom showed me what she made for my brothers, my father, and herself of course, to wear and I decided that I should get some homework done since I promised my friends a girl's night out. 

After a few hours, I completed my homework and started getting ready for the GNO. We decided we would leave at 6:30 PM. I checked the clock. Perfect it's only 5:45! Plenty of time. 

I applied a little more makeup than what I wore to school, braided my hair, and dressed in a sweater and slightly rolled up jeans with booties. We were going to a psychic and then out to dinner! How exciting!

After 45 minutes passed, I heard a honk outside of my house and looked out my window to see Alyssa's car. I ran outside and hopped into the backseat, to the right of April and Kelly. Julia was sitting shotgun. We sang the whole way to some throwback songs and it was a blast. Finally, we arrived.
