Chapter 12 : Trying to get an audition

Chapter 12

Later...

Riker POV

"Hey, Rik."

I jumped a little. Rydel came in the room, and sat down next to me on my bed.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm ok right now..." I said, sighing.

"I talked to mom and explained how you were feeling and everything. She said she'd talk to dad about it again, and try to let you get the scholarship. But you have to go to school tomorrow."

I sighed, and tensed up a little.

"Mom felt bad for you, Riker."

"Really? Because she said I couldn't go to the nurse because she thought I was faking."

"She believes you, Riker. She was researching online and stuff, and she believes you now."

"Ok, well I guess that makes me feel a little bit better... I think I'm going to head to bed..."

"Ok."

Rydel gave me a hug, and then I got settled in bed. Please don't let me have any nightmares...

Morning...

Riker POV

I woke up with a really bad stomachache. I don't know how I'm more nervous than I was yesterday. But maybe I'm just scared mom and dad will say no, and I'll be stuck at this awful school forever.

I changed, and walked down the stairs with my arms around my stomach. It hurt so bad.

"You ok, Riker?" Rydel asked.

"My stomach hurts... Really really bad..."

"Mom, do you think maybe he could stay home from school?" Rydel asked.

Mom looked at me.

"How bad does it hurt, Riker?" Mom asked.

"Like on a scale from 1 to 10?"

"Yeah."

"Uh... Like 9 million."

"Really?"

"I woke up with it. I don't know where it came from. It just hurts really bad."

"Fine. You can stay home today. But you have to go tomorrow."

"Thanks, mom..."

I ate breakfast with my siblings, and then they all left for school. Mom sat down across from me at the table.

"Let's talk, Riker."

"Ok..."

"Rydel talked to me last night about you. I believe her, so I believe you're still really scared from the shooting. Your father and I talked last night, but we haven't decided anything yet. But we're considering letting you try for the scholarship."

"Really!?"

"Yes."

"Well then you should try to make a decision tonight! And then we can fly down to Ohio, I can get the scholarship, you can sign the papers-"
