The harbor outside of New York was glistening in the slowly rising sunlight. A little girl, about 8 years old, pops her head out of the water and takes a deep breath. Slowly, she opens her blue-green eyes and looks around. Behind her, her parents arrive at the surface. The little girl points to the city, and they all start swimming towards a secluded part of the city.

When they arrive at the secluded beach, the little girl slowly stretches her foot towards the sand. She sets foot on the sand, and pushes herself up. She is standing still for three seconds before stumbling over and falling. Her parents arrive at the shore, and her mom offers a hand. "Still getting used to standing up?" The girl nods, and shakily stands up. "Come on, I know somewhere we can stay." They started walking towards the city.

Remarkably, their clothes were perfectly dry once they stepped out of the water.

The family was going to be staying in a building near a friend of the mom's, and this friend was named Jocelyn Fray.

Once they arrived at the building, the little girl's mom knocked on the door, and a woman with dark red hair opened the door. "Jocelyn" Jocelyn looked at the little girl. "Eathelyn, this is kind of bad timing." Eathelyn looked at Jocelyn, a little panic in her eyes. "Jocelyn, we need a place to stay. It's getting too intense, and we want Serena to have a nice, quiet, human life away from the water." Jocelyn's expression softened. "There's a room available across the street." Eathelyn hugged Jocelyn, and Serena looked up at her mom.

"Mom, what's going on?" Eathelyn looked down at her little girl. "We're going to be living here for a while." Serena mouthed, oh, and saw through the door that another girl about her age, with red hair was behind the door. Jocelyn noticed this, and looked down at Serena. "Serena, this is my daughter Clary. Now remember, you can't tell her anything about what you are. It will just scare her. Now, do you want to play with Clary?" Serena smiled, and walked through the door.

While the two girls played, the parents were sitting on the couch. "You have to let Serena know she can't tell Clary anything about the shadow world. We're trying to keep her safe." Eathelyn nodded.

"Alright Serena. It's time to go home now." Serena ran towards her mom, and they waved goodbye to the Fray's before walking to their new home.
