Clary had left, and Simon and Maureen were still in the club, so Serena decided to walk home. It was a nice night, well, as nice as New York gets. Little did she know, she was being watched.

Once she got home, she put down her bag and walked over to where her parents were - on the couch. "Hey Serena. How was the party?" Serena sat down and sighed. "It was okay... until we got into the party." Eathelyn sat forward. "What happened?" Serena looked around. "There were Shadowhunters there." Eathelyn stiffened. "Did the Shadowhunters notice you?"" Serena shook her head.

"No, they were there because of a shape-shifting demon that was draining mundane blood. Clary was in there too, and they pushed a demon onto a blade that Clary was holding, which caused her to kill the demon." Eathelyn and Kyle looked at each other, then back to Serena. "Serena, you need to go across the street and check on Clary. Now." Serena nervously nodded, grabbed her bag, and walked out the door.

When Serena got across the street to Clary's house, she saw Clary talking to Dot. Serena started running. "Clary!" Clary turned her head, and Serena stood next to Clary. Dot looked a little nervous. Think, Clary. This could save Jocelyn." Clary was shaking. "I can't think! Someone kidnapped my mother!" Dot's expression hardened. "You know more than you think you do, Clary Fray."

Then, Dot's mouth extended, and Serena realized what that was. "Clary, get back." Clary stepped back, and Serena extended her arms. Water shot out of her hands at the shapeshifter. It recoiled, then pinned Clary against a wall. It clawed at Clary's shoulder, then Serena saw the blonde Shadowhunter stab the demon. The demon vaporized, and the blonde guy walked towards Clary.

"What, no "thank you" for saving your life?" He looked at Clary's shoulder. "Careful. That demon got a piece of you." Clary was even more confused. "Demons?" The blonde guy looked over at the remains. "What do you think that miserable, disgusting thing was?" Clary sighed. "I, uh... I thought it was Dot." The blonde guy looked at the wound on Clary's shoulder. "No, Ravener demon, shapeshifter." Clary looked as if she was going to pass out.

"You're just saying words now." Clary started panting. "Why... why is the room swirling?" The blonde guy looked up. "Demon venom." At this point Clary was about to pass out. "It's that bad?" Then, she fell and the blonde guy caught her. Serena stood up, shakily. "is she going to be okay?" The blonde guy looked at her. "Yeah, she'll be fine in a while. Who are you?" He lifted Clary off the ground. "I'm Serena. I'm one of Clary's friends." The blonde guy started walking. "I'm Jace."

When they got to the building, Serena looked around. "Am I going to be allowed in here?" Jace looked at her, confused. "Yeah, why wouldn't you be? You have the sight." Serena glanced down. "I have the sight because I'm a downworlder. I'm a Siren." Jace mouthed 'oh', then gestured for Serena to open the door. "I'm sure as long as you weren't a vampire, you are fine." Serena sighed in relief, then opened the door.

Once they got in, Serena looked around at all the Shadowhunters in there. "Wow" Jace went over to a bed, and lowered Clary. Serena walked over to Clary, and looked down. Suddenly, Serena felt light. Jace noticed this. "Hey, you okay? Did the demon get you too?" Serena shook her head. "I need to lie down. I've just drained my energy a little bit. Haven't used my powers in over a decade. Took a little more energy than I thought." Serena sat down near Clary, and closed her eyes.
