When Serena woke up, she was on the floor, and the girl with brown hair from the club was sitting at the foot of the bed Clary was lying on. Serena stood up, and noticed that there was a rune on Clary's shoulder. "When did that get there?" The brunette looked from Clary to Serena. "Jace drew it on her the moment they arrived. Saved her life."
Suddenly, Clary popped up, and smacked the brunette's head. The brunette leaned back. "Ow." Clary was even more nervous. "Wait, I don't know who you..." The brunette interrupted, "I'm Isabelle." She sighed. "I've never seen Jace so curious about a mundane... or distracted. Like you saw earlier, distractions are dangerous in our line of work." Serena walked around.
There were runes everywhere, and Serena saw a brunette boy that looked like Isabelle walk over to Clary and Isabelle. Serena stepped back, not wanting to be a part of the conversation.
"The mundane shouldn't even be here. And she brought a downworlder in here. This isn't acceptable." Even though the boy was a couple yards away, Serena could still hear him. Serena walked over to Clary, who was now talking to Jace. "So, what, I'm miraculously healed, and all of you... stunning people have magical powers?" Jace chuckled. "No. No, don't confuse me with a warlock." Clary cocked her head.
"A what?" Jace replied, "A warlock." Serena stood by Clary. "It's one of the Downworlders." Clary looked up at Serena. "How do you know about this?" Clary then looked to Jace. "Okay, neither of you are making any sense." Jace looked at Clary. "Warlocks, vampires, Seelies..."
"Sirens..." Serena piped up, and Clary looked at both of them. "Literally, my brain is about to explode." Jace sighed. "Jeez, all right. Well, I'll keep it simple for you. We're Shadowhunters. We protect the human world from the demon world. So those people you saw murdered at the Pandemonium, they weren't people at all, they were shape shifting demons." Clary narrowed her eyes. "I'm not interested in being a part of your supernatural fight club. I just wanna find my mom." Then, her voice cracked.
"The rest of it, whatever it is, all I care about is finding my mother. Please. Please help me find her." Jace smirked. "I'm the best chance you've got." Clary looked at him in astonishment. "I don't even know you."
At this point, Serena rolled her eyes, and walked away. She looked out the window, and saw Simon on the phone. She turned her head. "Hey, Clary. You might want to come look at this." Clary walked over to the window, and when she saw Simon, she sighed. "I see you." Serena started walking outside.
"Simon?" Simon's eyes widened. "Serena, what are you doing here? Where is Clary?" Serena looked behind her. "Clary's coming." Serena noticed there was someone behind Simon. Casually, not wanting to do anything that might raise suspicion, she stood next to Simon.
Clary and Jace walked out, only Simon couldn't see Jace. "So, why can't Simon see you?" Jace smirked. "This is a glamour, a rune that makes me invisible to mundanes. It's a shame, really, 'cause... well, denying them all this." Serena chuckled as Simon looked at Clary. "What do you have on, Clary?" Clary looked at Simon. "Let me take you home." Clary sighed. "I don't think I have one anymore." Simon looked at Serena. "What does she mean?"
Suddenly, a man popped up behind Simon. "Clary Fairchild." Serena's eyes flashed blue, and Simon looked astonished at Serena. "What was that? Your eyes..." Serena sighed. "Not now, Simon.
Then, Simon gasped. "You can see him?" Simon stepped back. "The dead body? Yeah." Clary sighed. "Could you deglamourize, or whatever, so my best friend doesn't think I'm losing my mind?" Jace drew a rune on himself, and Simon stepped back. "Um... what is happening?" Serena smiled. Jace gestured inside. "Yeah, we don't have the luxury right now, kid. Everyone back inside." Simon walked over to Clary. "What are you talking about? Clary... you don't know this guy, all right? Come with me. I can get us help. Clary, please. Clary, come on." Clary looked from Simon to Jace.
Desperately, Simon looked to Serena. "Serena, tell Clary we need to go." Serena lowered her gaze to the ground.
