Last time on ‘Now That I’m Gone (#Wattys2016)’

After about five minutes, Ander and his mom came back downstairs to finish eating. His mom suddenly had a disappointed look on her face when they came back down, but Ander looked like he had gotten a huge weight lifted off of his shoulders. I shook off that bad feeling and continued to eat my food.

“Melissa, since when did you know how to cook?” I asked trying to compliment her food and lighten the tension in the room.

“I’ve been practicing ever since I left the old town Emmy,” she laughed

“Well, it’s really good!” I exclaimed while stuffing my face with more food that my sister had cooked.

I’m going to have to have her cook more often.

After dinner we were all kind of quiet. We just sat at the table for a minute waiting for someone to speak up.

“How about we watch a movie?” I asked quietly breaking the silence

“That sounds like a great idea,” Ander’s mom said standing up

We all stood up and Melissa led the way to the screening room.

I still don’t understand how she can afford all of this.

When we walked into the screening room we all kind of shuffled into our seats and I ended up sitting alone. In the screening room the walls were covered in red carpet and everything was too fancy or me.

I didn’t even know that we had a screening room. When did this get here?

I’m pretty sure Ander’s mom and Melissa were hitting it off pretty good. They were talking nonstop.

I still don’t know his mom’s name.

I got up from the cushioned couch and walked over to his mom and Melissa.

“I am sorry but I never got your name. What is it?” I asked

“Oh! It’s Julie,” she laughed “I believe I never got your name either.”

“I’m Emma,” I said and shot out my hand for her to shake it.

She took my hand and shook it gently, “Nice to meet you Emma,”

I nodded and went to sit down. Ander and Sofia were sitting behind me so I had a whole love seat to myself. I don’t really know what to call it. It was a couch love seat type of thing and it was comfortable. It was white and tan and reclined a bit if you hit the button for it. My sister went to the back of the screening room and put in one of my all-time favorite movies. ‘The Sound of Music’. In my opinion I thought that this movie was a classic and everyone should watch it. The previews played through and I was already beginning to get cold. I walked out of the screening room and up to my room to grab my blanket. I untied the shirt around my waist and slipped on an oversized hoodie. I grabbed my comforter off of my bed and dragged it down the stairs behind me. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed five more water bottles and stuffed them in my blanket. I carried the blanket like a sack into the screening room and then plopped down into my seat right as the movie was starting. I grabbed four out of five if the water bottles and passed two to Ander and Sofia and then the other two to Julie and Melissa. After giving a water bottle to everyone, I went back to my love seat and dropped down onto it.

Why must you be so comfy? I could fall asleep right here.

I laid down on the love seat taking up all of the space there was. I turned my head to look at the screen right as the opening scene was ending. I got really into the movie, and about halfway through I sat up and sat Indian style in the middle of the couch, and pulled the blanket up to my chin.
