Chapter 17
Last time on 'Now That I'm Gone'.
"So since we are here so early... what are we gonna do?" I asked
What I usually do Emma. Let's go to the gym and shoot a bit." He laughed as he grabbed my forearm and dragged me to the back of the building.
Oh boy.
As Ander and I approached the back of the building I turned around and saw Brooke get out of the guy's car that Ander was talking about, in a black mini skirt, and a long sleeved crop top.
I guess she really did reject Ander's ride. What a jerk.
I turned my head back to Ander and decided that I should ask him about that guy later, I didn't want to ruin his joy right now. Ander lead me to double doors that were bulky and had rust on and surrounding the hinges. He dismounted his backpack off of his shoulders and hurriedly got a keychain out of it. He didn't even bother to zip the pocket on the front of his back-pack closed when he unlocked one of the doors and flung it open. He rushed inside while pulling me inside with him.
"Woah what's the rush?" I asked him
"Well I didn't want to get caught." He said
My eyes widened. "Caught!? What do you mean caught? You have keys aren't you allowed to be in here."
"I mean kind of, I have permission from coach but if the principal catches me in here without coach again I'm gonna be in big trouble. He usually comes in here to check 10 minutes before school so about... NOW!!" Ander whispered very loudly as he pulled me behind him and into coach's office.
Ander close the door behind us and locked it. He kept the lights turned off and we ducked under the coach's desk. We sat silently and heard the main door to the gym open and shoes clicking against the polished floor. The clicking came closer to the door and then it stopped. I thought the coast was clear so I relaxed until I heard the banging on the office door and I gasped very loudly. Ander threw his hand over my mouth as a way to keep me quiet. The banging stopped and the little click got a lot quieter. I listened as the door to the gym closed and there were no more footsteps. Ander took his hand off of my mouth and put his finger up to his mouth. I nodded and stayed still as he peeked around the desk to check if the coast was clear. He crawled up by the door and looked under it making sure no one was there, and then he got up and looked through the glass window on the door.
"Come on." He said as he grabbed his bag out from under the desk and opened the door.
"Okay... Well that was...fun." I said still shocked with what just happened. I grabbed my bag and followed him out of the coach's office.
Ander walked over to a set of double doors and unlocked them. He disappeared into the equipment room and came out with a basketball. Ander through it to me and I surprisingly caught it.
Ander laughed, "I guess I'll have to take it easy on you. You looked terrified when you saw that ball heading towards you."
"Well if you sucked at sports and saw a ball flying towards your face, would you not be terrified?" I asked still shaking it off
"You're not good at sports? I find that hard to believe. Have you ever tried practicing?" He asked me.
"No not really. I enjoy watching sports not playing them." I said honestly
"I hate sitting through games when I could be out there playing with my team," He said, "here try at least shooting the ball from a tiny bit away from the net."
