Last Time on ‘Now That I’m Gone (#Wattys2016)’
I saved the entry in my diary and the exited off of it. I looked at the time on my laptop and sighed. 9:24. Great, now I don’t have time. I logged off of my laptop and set it down on my bed and then looked up. I jumped a bit.
“Oh my goodness you freaking scared me!” I exclaimed
Ander just laughed. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to,”
I shrugged, got off of my bed and turned my lights off shoving myself passed Ander who was standing in my doorway.
“Well,” I said “let’s go get this dinner started.”
Ander nodded and followed me down the stairs after he shut my door.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________“What a gentleman,” I teased as we walked down the stairs
“Huh?” he looked up at me
“Nothing,” I laughed “I was just messing around since you shut my door,”
“Oh,” he said as his phone went off.
“Sorry, I gotta take this,” he said as he rushed to the front door and stepped outside shutting the door behind him.
I shrugged and walked over to the kitchen to meet everyone. I had seen his sister at the mall, but I hadn’t officially met her yet. I walked into the kitchen to see no one.
What the heck??
I stood there for a minute trying to figure everything out.
Where in the world was everyone? I mean I know Ander went out front but what about his mom and sister? Where was Melissa?
I went to the refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of water from the top shelf. I twisted it open and took a sip.
I love ice cold water.
I put the lid back onto my water bottle and decided since I didn’t know where anyone was to go back up to my room. When I passed the sliding glass door to the backyard, I saw that the porch light was on and figured that they were outside. I laughed at myself and opened the glass door and stepped into the backyard. I saw Melissa, Ander’s mom, and Ander’s sister all sitting under our beautifully lit canopy. Our canopy took up our whole porch, which was pretty huge compared to most houses. I still don’t understand how Melissa can afford this house. The canopy was tan and had lights draping down inside of it. The curtains were tied up and the mesh ones were zipped up to keep the bugs out. Melissa and Ander’s mom were laughing and his sister was sitting on a couch waiting for some company. I was pretty sure that Ander was still out front on the phone so I walked over to the canopy and unzipped the mess enough for me to get in the entrance. I walked passed all of our furniture that we have set up in here and went straight to the adorable little girl that was sitting on a black leather couch. I sat down next to her and smiled.
“Hi,” I said to her “do you care if I ask you what your name is?”
“I’m Sofia,” she smiled
“Sofia. Well that’s a very pretty name,”
“Thank you,” she said as she looked through the mesh curtain.
“What are you doing?” I asked politely
“Just looking for Ander. I am always bored when he isn’t around since I don’t really have anyone else to talk to,” she said
