Maia's POV

Once I realized my new surroundings, I stumbled back in fear and memory.

The room Chaot killed me in.

The room I had been put into a simulation in.

I absolutely loathed having to see this room again.

I bumped the metal wall.

CLANG!

Then I slid to the floor.

I wanted to forget everything that happened a few months ago...

If only it were that easy...

I shook my head and shivered, regaining my footing.

"Maia, are you alright?" Arcmagos asked.

"Yes, I'm fine... hopefully," I gulped.

Arcmagos nodded, looking back at the rest of the room.

"So... let me get this straight," Riverflow started.

"We just got sent into some huge, crazy simulation in order to hide from Chaot, who, as of now, has destroyed entire cities searching for us."

Riverflow trembled.

"How is she doing that, though? Mae said that she had lost her powers..."

Mae nodded, staring at nothing in particular.

"Yes, I did say that."

"So how?" Rocksworth and Cyclone asked.

Mae released a long sigh.

"I feel like you shouldn't know why as of yet, but the time is coming closer..."

"The time's coming closer for...?" Blackout and Spotlight dragged out.

"For you to know the truth. Why you have powers, what Chaot really wants, the history one of you has with her, stuff like that."

"I'll kill you over and over, and you'll watch me tear you to bloody pieces..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mae rubbed her temples, as though she had a headache.
"Why not now?" Forestra inquired.
Her question wasn't answered.
Mae, instead of heeding her question, stumbled back in pain. She emitted a sharp groan, collapsing into the wall and giving in to gravity.
"Is she alright!?" Eon shrieked, rushing to Mae's side.
As she knelt down, Mae screamed loud. Eon scampered backward, trying to get away from the screaming girl as quickly as possible. As I fearfully scanned the girl as she strongly gripped her head in her hands, Mae's eyes opened.
My heart beat fast and hard, my fear storming inside me.
Her eyes were purely bloodshot, the only color visible in her eyes being red. I turned away from the nightmarish sight.
"We need to help her!" Pyroclast exclaimed.
I stared at her.
"But how? She---"
Mae's earsplitting scream echoed through the room, creating an eerie vibration. It lasted a bit too long to be natural.
After 30 seconds or so of straight screaming, Mae stopped abruptly.
She started whispering in a seemingly otherworldly voice...
"Find us... touch the painting... before sunset... discover the truth..."
Mae let out a terrifying groan before collapsing onto the floor, breathing heavily.
Everyone stayed silent.
My thoughts were raging like my stormy eyes. We had to find...
The painting.
I hoped that it was in the same place.
Wait, was that the painting under the school?
Hopefully, it was that painting, the one with Chaot. The one that brought us to eldritch simulations.
But through this war of thoughts, I knew one thing for sure.
We would be breaking into the school.
