Eon's POV
I didn't know how to feel.
Maia was back.
For some reason, anger simmered inside of me.
I wanted to beat her to a pulp and...
What was truly going on?
Another part of me wanted to squeeze my arms around her, relieved that she somehow got back.
But how...?
I could only stare at her face.
She sure looked different.
She was way skinnier and slightly more tan than she was. Her hair was a bit longer and she now wore red glasses. Her previously bleached left eye regained its color.
Maia didn't speak, even though her cheek was sore from when I slapped her. We only stared at each other. Her stormy gray eyes were calm while mine were wild.
I still couldn't believe it.
I had seen her dead body once.
Lying in a chair.
Dead.
And now I see her explode into existence with my very eyes?
Mae mentioned Chaot being crushed in the falling boulders. And then she said that something would happen after that.
Was this the result of Chaot's death?
"Hey," Maia greeted.
Her voice was much higher than I remembered it to be.
How much had she changed in the time that she was dead...?
My anger flared up again.
"After all this time, scaring us, making us believe you had died, you simply say hey?" I said in an exasperated tone.
Maia's eyebrows knitted, her expression turning into a frown.
"I'm sorry. It wasn't my fault. You guys told me---"
"I DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT WE SAID!" I exploded.
I ran my fingers through my long hair before stomping hard.
"I need some time alone, okay?"
"No, I need to explain my death, alright?"
I was frustrated.
A realization hit me.
I had that vision a few days ago.
We told Maia that she needed to jump into a portal to save us.
What was THAT supposed to be about, anyway?
I looked up at Maia.
The others walked in from the side and looked at both of us.
Riverflow spoke.
"Maia, how did you die?"
