Maia's POV

My head was full of questions.

Now that I knew part of what was going on, I only had more and more questions. It hurt.

Well, I did know that Chaot had lost her powers.

How'd she regain them?

A feeling told me I'd know eventually, but there was just one matter to take care of.

Chaot.

And to think, I never thought I'd meet her again. Not after my trek through the Other Side.

"Eon, how do we defeat this... woman?" I asked.

"Why are you asking me? They have the powers. I get the visions. Mae... brought us here. I don't think it will be of much help, so the rest have to bombard her while we run. I'm new to this..."

"Well, Forestra, Arcmagos, Pyroclast, and Rocksworth did attack Chaot in the cave big time. They fled, earth shattered, and-"

"Wait, how did you know about that!?"

"I was inside Chaot as a spirit. Said she could destroy you guys after I somehow got into her body."

Eon giggled.

"What?" I questioned her.

"Sorry, I was just..."

She cleared her throat.

"So she said that she could destroy us now that she had you inside her? Sounds like possession by a spirit gave her powers..."

"Do you think that you guys have powers because spirits are residing in you?"

Eon shrugged.

"Maybe---"

"Such idiots, freeing this... girl. Do you know what you're all getting into? You can't help them. You can't save them. You can't come to them. Only one can..." Chaot's voice rang in our ears, as though she said it right next to us.

"And it's me."

The ground started shaking in a low rumble. It was enough for us two to try to balance ourselves with outstretched arms.

My mind suddenly trailed to my simulation with the painting.

I couldn't save them because I was not in control.

Perhaps now... I could?

I turned to Eon, who was full of fear.

"Eon, we need to run..."

"Run? With the ground shaking?"

I nodded.

"Don't worry, I'll help you."

"How about them-"
