I have been very good this year. So far there haven't been any problems, things were the usual so far. Grandpa left for work, I left for town. From there I visit Mari who now works at a café for people who live here and who travel here, Mari said they were called tourist and I shouldn't worry about them. Though sometimes I grow uncomfortable when people look at my odd features like my pale skin and white hair. My eyes were surprisingly a bright silver and not blue. But with Mari I would help around the café by washing dishes, cleaning the tables and floor. Mari tries to pay me but I disagree, she already home schools me for free. She used to be a teacher but she wanted to pursue the life of food. She was an excellent cook if I must say. But after working in the café we have our lesson, I would be in my junior year by now despite my age.
"How's Gale, little Angel? Mari asked, she was always concerned for Grandpa. I don't blame her, he would always risk his health. I got out a piece of paper and a pencil starting to write.
"He's fine, he's going to the doctor after my birthday in two days." I wrote down. Mari smiles and pats my head.
"You better head home. Gale doesn't want staying here when it gets dark." Mari replied and I left, we would always get weird visitors at that time but I never really got the chance to see or hear about them. I am afraid to leave Mari sort of alone at these times. I decided to not go home yet and head out to the waters. I left my clothes on the ice and change my appearance to my original self, a dragon. I've gotten to big over the years so fast it was really scary. I slide myself into the water and swim around the ice cold sea water. I would find so many fish down here and lose track of time sometimes, good think only Grandpa knows I only come here for a swim. I couldn't fit the bath tub in my full dragon form anymore, I almost crushed it last time. Grandpa laughed when he found me stuck in the tub that one and last time. As I was swimming around I felt different for some reason, usually I would feel just calm but my instincts was giving an alarm as if danger was coming. I looked around as fish were quickly swimming past me, fish don't even come near usually. I turn around and swim the other direction, it may have only been a predator but I really knew it wasn't the case.
In the far distances I saw a ship, underwater, I almost forgot that ships can go under water they were called submarines. I knew this was no good and I knew I would be seen so I start to swim to the hole where I came from, but before I could have gotten out I had been shocked. It hurt so much and I couldn't find the source of it. I get out before another wave of shock hits my chest. I change and start to head home, from there I would relax and read a book or two. My arm was still shaking from the sudden shocks I was given. I didn't tell Grandpa though, I didn't need to.
"No more swimming Angel, these men are doing some research in the sea and don't want you to get involved. If you see them at the café don't be seen. Understand?" He said. I had nodded and left for bed early, I was so curious yet scared. That's when a knock on the door came, I stayed laying down in case of a business visit. I just locked my door and went back under my bed to lay down to relax. I could hear the conversation perfectly. It wasn't a business visit, this man's voice was different from the usual man that comes over.
"Hello are you Gale Spencer? My name is Dr. Phillip." The man said. I could hear him walking in the house.
"Yes that's me. What can I do for you?" Grandpa replied.
"You see, we have information that you found a very particular egg years back. We were hoping you remember what you did with it." Dr. Phillip said and I could hear the nervous movement of Grandpa.
"I threw that thing in the lake where I found it. I knew maybe it's Mother maybe looking for it. But I see anything about it again I will talk you." Grandpa answered.
"Here's my card." Dr. Phillip said and I heard the sound of paper being bended then released making that flicking sound. But he left and I knew fully when the door was closed then locked. I came downstairs in my half human half dragon form to find Grandpa scared. He sat in the chair near the fireplace and I sat next to him trying to comfort him, he looked a little pale. I tried to speak but only a small squeak like sound came out, but Grandpa knew I was calling for him and patted my head.
"Don't worry Angel. I got this, just stay safe." He said, I couldn't get him to speak again after that for a while. The next day was the same as always. He would leave before I would wake up so I just stayed home the whole time after going to Mari and telling her the situation. She told me to stay home till things were a bit calmer around town. So I did, I go in Grandpa's room and look around for something like a puzzle, I open the closet and a ball falls on my head. So a play around with it and soon get myself downstairs to turn the TV on without really doing it on purpose. Sadly it may have been the scariest thing I see on television for the first time.
