noun
1. a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.Josh and Castiel stayed in that bookstore for a while after making up, now they were revising with each other. Neither of them wanting to talk about previous events. They only wanted to talk about the good ones. They ones that they cherished.
"Remember when we first met?" Josh asked.
Cas tiled his head slightly and frowned lightly as he tried to remember. Josh could practically see the gears being turned inside his brain. Then it all disappeared and a bright gleaming smile took its place, stretching right up to his eyes causing them to squint slightly.
"I do remember" he chuckled looking down at the table as he began wiping imaginary dust off of the top. Not because he was nervous, but because it was just something to do. He always needed something to do or to fiddle with. He didn't like to be sat still all the time "You were, buying Ryan and Spencer from the pet store and I just happened to be volunteering at the time. The lady before you brought a puppy. The puppy was so excited that it took a leak on the floor by the other puppies. The woman paid for the puppy and apologised. I told her it was no trouble and went around the back to get some wipes but then I heard a loud thump and then some groaning. So I went back in and saw you, on the floor, drowning in dog pee."
By the end of the story Josh and Cas were laughing their heads off struggling to breathe. It wasn't really that funny, but it was to them. Cas didn't volunteer at the pet store for long, only for a couple of days. He was walking by the place on his way to the library and saw a sign that was posted on the window of the shop. It had read 'voluntary work available'. Cas being Cas obviously had to have that position. Not only was it great opportunity to work on different skills. It was also a chance to be around animals. And he loved animals. So being around them for longer than he normally was, amazed him.
As soon as they both calmed down, Josh cleared his throat "I should get going, the rain has stopped, I think. It's the most it's gonna stop anyway. So, I better blast."
"Right..." Cas sighed lightly.
"Do you have a ride home?"
"I-uh-no-no I'll be fine, I can do things by myself."
"Look, its dark out, you know, short, cold, winter days. I don't want you walking all the way back to your house by yourself, it's a while away and there are weird people out there that like to do weird shit" Josh insisted.
"Josh, stop. I'll be fine."
"Fine isn't good enough" Josh pulled out his phone scrolling through his contacts for the only person he knew would be free right now and willing to do anything for Castiel. Dean.
"Josh. Who are you calling?" Cas questioned worryingly.
Josh hussed him as the sound on the other end was ringing like a drone.
After a few missed calls...okay, seven, he finally picked up. "Josh. What do you want?" His voice sounding quite gravely. He knew that this would do Dean some good. Seeing Cas, maybe Josh could put things right again.
"It's not about me. It's about Cas" Cas tiled his head, utterly filled with confusion.
"Cas?! What?! Is he hurt?! Is he in trouble?! Is he okay?!"
"Dean, Dean, calm down he's fine" Josh sighed happily, knowing that he still really cares about his. It would hopefully make this easier. A thought sparked through his head that he wish someone cared about him that way, but he shook his head and dismissed it.
