As Bonnie sped down the motorway her mind was everywhere but the road, wondering back to what Stefan had meant on the phone. "This could change everything".
She could feel herself getting more and more anxious as she let herself think deeper into things.
A thought that seemed so forbidden popped into her head and something came alive in the pit of her stomach but no, she knew not to dwell for too long. "I don't want to let myself have hope again. Hope hurts, and I don't want to hurt anymore." she thought to herself
Out of nowhere an overwhelming fire like sensation flowed through her entire being temporarily incapacitating her. Her vision was becoming blurred, heart beating at a pace out of this world as she lost control of the wheel. Her mind blanked and she couldn't figure out what she was doing so she closed her eyes and drifted into the darkness that wanted to engulf her so badly.
Bonnies POV
It felt like I'd been out for hours. I tried to take in my surroundings but it took a while for my eyes to adjust. This smell is all too familiar but so foreign and I can't quite put my finger on it. "My vision" I whisper to myself. I can't see.
The door opens before someone walks in and the daunting sound echoes in my ears as they take each step.
The sound stops and all I can do is sit still as I listen to someone breathing right in front of me. I feel my breathing hitch as a hand reaches down to my waist.
I feel safe but I will not leave myself vulnerable. Not again.
Someone else must've entered the room the way he took his hands off of my waist and took a step back.
"Bonnie" I hear Stefan say from beside me. I finally let out the breath i didn't know i was holding in. "Stefan I, I don't know what's happening, I can't see, please help me."
Was the last thing I remember saying before I fell into the darkness again.••••
" How long has she been like this Stefan?" a familiar voice asked worriedly.
" I wish i knew what you were talking about but I'm all out of ideas"
••••
Bonnie was slowly awakening to the sound of two people having a conversation but they both sounded weirdly fuzzed out.
She felt weak but refused to let it show. As she slowly sat up all her senses came rushing back to her at full force giving off the feeling of some sort of rebirth. She looked around to take in her surroundings and within seconds she realized where she was. She hastily got out of the bed she could've spent an eternity in and turned around a little too fast. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath in and inhaled a scent that she'd been craving for a little too long.
Her eyes were glued shut in fear, she couldn't bring herself to open them because she knew exactly what was waiting in front of her.
She felt a cold hand gently brush the hair away from her tightly shut eyes and at that slight touch she felt a rush of electricity run through every single vein, muscle, and joint her body. It was a rush that she hadn't felt in years, a rush she thought she'd never get the chance to feel again.
"Bon"
He whispered in the lowest voice assumed possible as he took a step closer.
"Open your eyes Bonnie"
She hesitantly opened her eyes and after all this time waiting she still wasn't ready to see what was in front of her.
She tried to speak but her voice got caught in her throat the moment she looked in those ice blue eyes she yearned for. A million and one questions ran through her head but the sentences wouldn't form and the words couldn't escape her lips, instead a stray tear let itself spill from her over filled waterline.
She was pulled into a long awaited embrace and in the heat of the moment she let go of every single pent up emotion that she held in for the past three years. she told her brain that she was done crying but I guess her body seemed to forget.
It was like she melted into him and everything was okay but she knew she couldn't be that weak and naive and trust or give in to him in any way after he abandoned her.
Before she got too far caught up in the moment she took a step back and quickly wiped the tears that continued to fall away.
"Damon" she eerily breathed out in disbelief.
"The one and only"
She shook her head at his slightly mimicry answer.
