Adrenaline rushed through my blood as my feet hit the ground with a steady rhythm. My heart was pumping and my breaths were heavy. Wind pushed my long brown hair back, and the soft breeze of the prairies let each hair soar with it's own preference.
My backpack slapped my back with excitement.
I was going to do this.
My right side screamed with pain and my feet grew sore but I still pushed myself forward.
I would not miss the chance to leave my village and find my family.
They were all that I had.
The boundary was just up ahead. A great big fence.
It's shiny metal glissading in the young sunlight. Nobody guarded it at this hour, and I knew that. The sky was dark, but bright orange and pink reached out and covered the land on the east side of my village. The sunrise was beautiful and I couldn't help but gaze at it in amazement before starting again.
I pushed forward, running faster then ever, tasting a close pursuit.
The fence was now almost a blink away.
In the manner that my dark shadow grew, stated that I didn't have much time.I stopped. Arms length away from the cold metal. A thousand thoughts went shooting through my head.
I sighed and walked closer, then pulled back.
Was I really going to do this? Leave everything behind, the safety of my village, the tender presence of my people?I couldn't stop, I had come this far and I will find my family, I won't turn back. It's too late now.
I took off my backpack and took a deep breath.
I swung my arm back before bringing it forwards again, sending my backpack ascending high over the fence.
I looked through the curves of the metal at the deep whispering woods and stepped forward. I jumped up clutching the tiny wires in my hand and placing my feet sturdy beneath me. I quickly climbed over the fence and didn't look back.I jumped down and sighed, brushing off my hands on my worn black jeans.
I looked over at my backpack which laid in a clump beside me. It sat with patience and anticipation.
I lifted it up and over my head, placing the light brown straps so that they rested solid on my shoulders.
Then I went forward following only my in-stinks and I drifted off into the cool dark air of the night..............................................................................
