My eyes began to widen and adrenaline sent me bolting towards Kasey's back window.
I wouldn't let them get away.
I climbed up to my house, practically flying upwards as I pushed up the bricks.
I hopped into the room and took my backpack in my hand before throwing it out the window, sending it falling to the ground.
I didn't stop to watch it fall so I hopped out of the window too, even before the bag touched the ground.
I landed on the tall yellow grass beside my backpack and scooped it up before swiftly bolting towards the forest.I ran as fast as a bullet. The wind slammed into my face and a short chill shivered up my spine. Dedication took over my body. My feet followed its every command, sending me racing against the wind, not ever slowing down.
All of my hair was pushed away from my face. Every thin piece had chosen its own path and soared with carelessness behind me.
My eyes laid still, pinning my destination with force. I passed houses upon houses and tens of stores.I was close now, the dark pavement of the streets had transitioned into a thick long grassland.
The blades of green and yellow reached up to my thighs and I could barely see my feet underneath me.
As the sun began to rise and the brightness of its fire showed effortlessly, I could see the dim glistening of the metal that wove into a long fence.
I stopped, almost a blink away from the tall wires.
The two men were no where to be seen and now my family had ventured off into the unknown.
I needed to find them, but there was no clues or sounds to help me.
No footsteps broke the soft wet soil on the forest floor and footprints disappeared just as they came.
But I couldn't waste any time.
I quickly took my backpack of my back and took a deep breath before swinging my arm back and then forwards again gracefully sending it ascending high over the fence.
It landed in a hump in front of me, only thin metal separated us now.
I watched it flattened itself out and prepared to push myself over as well. I bended my knees and looked up, then quickly pushed off the ground and planted my feet as high as I could on the bars.
The wires were cold to the touch but I ignored the discomfort and climbed up the fence quietly leaving behind the small clinking sounds of the metal.
When I got to the top, I hopped off the fence, not caring to make my way back down carefully.
I landed on soft moss, it looked so clean and green.
After admiring my platform, I slowly looked up at my opponent.
The woods were deep and dark. The trees were too high to reach and their stumps were wide.
It was mid spring and the trees were lavish and flourished, the air felt warm
and everything was so enchanting.
The ground was rich and the soil was a deep brown. Moss and plants sprouted in every corner, it was truly a wild place.
There was no walkway to follow and the only sound that was offered to me, came from the wind and the song of the birds.
I looked back down and picked up my big black backpack. I was so grateful to have this, if I had woken up ten minutes later I would be left with nothing.
I placed the straps sturdily on my shoulders and began to take everything in.
After my examination, my rushed and anxious self returned. My adrenaline kicked in and strictly set me down a good path.West they went west, I remembered, and then I quickly set off in search of my family.
The woods whispered to me as I walked passed. Animals called out to each other and the wind whistled a high pitched song.
But still I heard nothing of use.
My feet sunk into the damp soil as I walked and my cold hands rested on my backpack's thick black straps.
My ears were ready for anything the earth would offer.
I wouldn't lose my family and I would search the world for them. All of a sudden I heard the loud snap of a twig. I stopped walking and made as little noise as I could. My eyes traced the trees as I searched for anything that would help me.
My head shot backwards when I heard another twig break behind me.
Slowly, I reached down to my belt and picked out a small black dagger with a brown leather handle. I hid it behind my back and bit my lip.
I stood there for about a minute, caught in anticipation.
Nothing happened and there were no more sounds. I sighed and rolled my eyes at myself, "It was probably just an animal."
I then continued on through the deep woods. I would never give up until I found my family.
My face was strict and I held my knife tightly in my hand.
I was going to find the other village.
No matter how far I had to go.I was so concentrated that the next twig snap ripped through the air with force. I heard it clearly even though whoever was making it was trying to be quiet. From then, it was clear to me that it was no animal. I continued on and ignored it, interested if they would continue to follow me.
Another snap.
This time it was loud and it sounded so close, as if whoever had followed was right behind me.
My eyes widened as I felt movement behind me. Without hesitating I turned around quickly and swung my knife at the air.
I didn't think they would be so close, but nearly a foot behind me was, a now injured man with dark chocolate hair.
I had planted the knife in his arm, his face showed his pain and I just observed him.
"WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?" he exclaimed, I rolled my eyes at him and responded "What did you do with my family?"
I didn't care about anyone but my family and I figured that I would apologize later.
He expressed his pain and put pressure on his arm. "I don't know what you're talking about."
His face showed me his lie and I continued to ask questions, maybe he would take me to where they were unintentionally. "Are you from reasmore?" I asked, he just looked at me and said "I'm not awnsering anything until I get this cut cleaned up."
He applied more pressure and cried "He's such an idiot, this is his fault, AARGHH"
"Who's an idiot?" I asked. "That's non of your business" he said "now help me get this cleaned up!"
I sighed and rummaged through my bag, "well you're in luck, I happen to have some bandages in here, but I also have more knives so don't move an inch."
He attempted to sit comfortably but his arm looked pretty bad and I regretted what I did. Finally I found the bandage and I took out a small water bottle that held more water then you would imagine.
"Don't move" I said as I pulled the knife out of his arm. The groaned in pain and I continued by cleaning it up with the water. The bandage came next, and I quickly wrapped it around his arm before the blood began to flood again.
He slowly adjusted his position and I scolded him, "I said don't move." I finished up with the bandage and attached it together with a pin.
"There," I said "now, are you from raesmore?" He hesitated but awnsered after some thought "no, I don't know what that is."
My eyes widened "so there is another village."
"Well, city. I don't think anyone would call it a village." He stated. I cut in quickly, "Is it big?" He smiled and responded "More than big, it's modern and safe"
"Hmm, seems too big to be true."He was trying to be nice but I could tell that he was mad at me, but I hated him. He was a liar and he knew where my family was. I had an awkward feeling around him, like how I felt about Lea and Kena. But I needed to find my family, so I needed to get him to trust me."
I packed up my backpack as I said "well, you better take me there." He looked confused when I turned around, but I just ignored it "we need to go now."
"Why would I take you?" He scoffed. I proceeded by giving him a completely honest awnser. "Because, your other arm would be gushing red if you don't!"
He stood up and I finally got to get a good look at him. He was much taller then me and his hair was a dark dirty brown. His eyes matched his hair and miscellaneous light freckles sprinkled his face. He was tan and strong.
"Fine" he said "let's go then."I let him pass me and then I soon followed. He looked like he had been working a lot. His feet were covered by brown worn out sneakers and the colour of his jeans were a dull dark blue. He was wearing an over worn black t- shirt with every stain you could imagine.
He turned around and caught me staring. I looked up at him and rolled my eyes. He just smirked and said "try to have fun girl, it's going to be a long journey."🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
