Chapter 2: Office Company

Next Week; Tuesday

This has been the first time that I've been able to run since last week. I've just been really busy with work. I've had so many letters this week, a lot more than usual. I've even had to "take my work home with me", which is something that I really hate.

I got up extremely early and went for a run. As I was running, I was stopped by someone.

"Hey!"

I turned around to see none other than Trey Songz. I like his music, but I'm not really a big fan of him. Why did he want my attention?

"Hey, I'm Tremaine."

"I know who you are." I said, then continued to run. I was a little upset with myself because I'd left my phone home this morning, so I didn't have any music to ignore him.

"Wait!" He said, and for some reason I turned around. He flashed his white smile, "Can I get your name?"

"Gia," I said reluctantly.

"Well, Gia, I just thought you should know that you're beautiful." He smiled, before leaving.

Was that really all he wanted?

I remember the last time someone called me beautiful, that was the last time I was happy. I shook the memory and continued to run until I got home. When I got home, I got in the shower, then got dressed for work.

Once I got there, I avoided everyone and went straight to my office.

I was going through the letters, until my assistant, Lauren, walked into my office and told me that my mom wanted to see me.

I had been waiting to see her all week. Everyday I would go to the place that I'd first seen her everyday at the same time and just wait for her. But now I'd finally seen her. I'd given her a compliment, and the next time I see her, I will make my move.

I walked into Mrs. Lawrence's office. I was here for an interview and a photoshoot, but she said she wanted to see me first.

"Hi, Mr. Songz. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"You too, Mrs. Lawrence."

Before she could even respond, someone entered her office. I turned around and there she was. The same girl that I had bumped into about a week ago, the same girl that I had complimented earlier.

"Mr. Songz, this is my daughter, Gia." Mrs. Lawrence said.

Gia and I shook hands and I kissed hers, while she looked at me suspiciously. "It's a pleasure, Gia." 

"Gia, I want you to take Mr. Songz back to your office and keep him company until it's time for his interview."

Gia sighed, then said, "Follow me to my office."

I can't believe he's here. Was he stalking me or something? First, he appears out of no where and compliments me when I'm running, now he shows up at my job and my mom wants me to keep him company.

"So, what time is your interview?" I asked because I didn't him in my office for a long time while I'm trying to work.

"11."

"You know its 9:30, right?"

"I know, I just like to be early." He smirked.

I paid him no attention as I continued to read some more letters and write some responses to them.

"So, Gia..." He said out of nowhere, but I didn't acknowledge him. "Can I have your number?"

"No," I said, never looking up from the letter that I was reading at the moment.

There was a short silence between us, until he finally said, "Stop."

"Stop what?" I asked, finally looking up from the letter that I was reading.

"Stop actin' like you don't wanna get to know me, when you know that you do."

I didn't have a problem with getting to know him, it's just that I knew what would happen after.

After we'd get to know each other, we'd get in a relationship, and I'd end up heartbroken; and my ultimate goal in life, was to avoid heartbreak.

"It's not an act."

It felt like time was running in slow motion. Tremaine was asking me all sorts of questions, but he claimed that he was just trying to "get to know me better". While he was in my office, I discovered that he's really nice. But everyone's nice when you first meet them, but they all turn out to be the same, and I can't go down that road again.

 Once 11 o'clock came and he was out of my office, I was finally about to focus on these letters.
