Mating Like No Other

Chapter Three

His scent filled my nose every shaky breath I took was filled with him. I watched as he handed the teacher his late pass. He looked up and met my eyes we stared at each . Are eyes were locked and I couldn't seem to break the hold but once again I didn't have to. His eyes leapt away from mines and he rushed to find a seat as far away from me as possible. You'd think he would rush like that to be near his mate. I felt like the most disgusting human being on the planet. Fighting back tears I listened as Carmen drooled over him.

"How can one person be that hot?"Carmen inquired.

Mark looked offended,"Are we forgetting Im here? I've also, been told that I'm a stud muffin myself."

I couldn't stop myself from giggling we all broke into hysterical laughter. Even broke away from her phone to join in on the laughter. Carmen joked,"Mark be hotter than Rick as if?!"

Rick........ that was his name. The sound of his name sent warm fuzzies through the kind you get when you sip hot chocolate on a cold day.

"Raven are you ok?" Tina called to me. "Hey earth to Ray!" Leaning across the table she snapped her fingers in face. I yelpt startled the feeling of warm fuzzies instantly subsiding. Sighing I looked into Tina's jade green eyes to find a look of concern. Tina put her dyed red hair in a sloppy ponytail on her head and asked,"Ray is there something you want to talk about?" I looked around the table all of their faces mirrored concern even Mark(!) and we barely just met.

"Yea sure why do you ask?"I say faking the best confused face I can. But of course none of them buy it accept for Mark who barely knows me. Luckily Tina and Carmen let the matter drop but I knew it was far from over. Mark grins," I don't know about you guys but I have a sudden craving to surf the web." He gets up and waits for one of us to decide to join him. I shoot up out of my chair quickly almost knocking it over in the process. Flushing with embrassment I lower my head as I feel everyones eyes on me.

"Come on." I whipser to Mark looping my fingers through his pulling him towards the computer lab. I knew if i stayed with the girls they'd question me trying to make sure I was okay. Thats the thing about my friends we knew each other all to well and could tell when one anothers mood shift. No one ever expected us to become so close. Tina was small and petite but a total spit fire if you angered her. She was the type of girl you'd call pretty with her small face and wide eyes. Carmen was loud and a total party animal. She was chubby with brown hair and blond highlights and dark brown eyes. And then theres me quiet, considerate me who loved those two to death.

As Mark and I approached the computer lab section Ricks intoxicating scent filled my nose. Trying discreetly I searched around for him and stopped him at the table closest to the computer lab door. He wouldn't meet my eyes so, I walked past as if I didnt even notice him which took alot. When he did look up I caught him staring at Mark and my interwined hands.

I heard a low growl and I quickly dropped Marks hand. Flushing bright red in embrassment I quickly rushed into the computer lab section and raced to the first I could see. Mark rushed in after me and put his hand on my shoulder. Looking into his eyes I seen worry and confusion I felt the question coming before he asked it. Mark asked,"Are you ok? You seemed upset?"

Hardly I said,"Yes gosh I'm starting to think you guys are the one with the problem here!" I laughed to prove my point. Not one hundred percent convinced Mark stared in my eyes a little longer before settling for my answer. I turned to the large computer monitor and turned it own. After it turned on I went to Facebook.com and surfed there. Loseing track of time I was startled by the bell signaling the end of school.

"Hey Ray could you give me a ride home?"asked Carmen as we descended the school steps.

"Of course buddy ol pal."

Together we walked towards my Pruis. My heart nearly stopped at the sight Rick leaning against a sleek black Mustang. He looked so yummy leaning against his car my breath caught in my throat. But it was quicky knocked out of me as I seen Hillie/Millie run up to the passenger side door. They both got in and sped off.

"What I'd do to be her right now." grumbled Carmen her eyes trailing the car as it drove off. She ran a hand down her mini skirt and strutted the rest of the way to my car for the benefit of a few jocks a couple of cars over. That earned her an lust filled wolf whistles and a few comments along with glares from a few stray girls standing around drooling over the jocks.

Pulling up to Carmens house we sat in the driveway and chatted away. She wasn't in a rush to go in considering her parents were still working. And her only sibling was away at college now so, she found any excuse to be out of the house.

"You were distant today."noted Carmen. I'd been waiting for her to bring that up.

"No I just got lost in my thoughts thats it."shrugging my shoulders to show it was biggy.

Carmen wasn't satisfied,"Are you sure your alrite Raven? You got lost in them alot."

I turned to Carmen looking her straight in the eye. It sucked to lie to her but I knew I couldn't tell her the truth.

"I'm perfectly fine and theres nothing on my mind that I couldn't tell you." WIth that she got out of the car and made her way inside. Pulling out I let my mind stray to my mate.
