Chapter Thirteen:Raven

I curled up in a ball snuggling with my pillow. My parents were at my door pounding away, trying to get me to open it. Why won't they just go away?

"Sweety whats wrong? We just to help you!" Mom pleaded. "Come on Bird were really concerned about you."

"Raven I understand you want your space. So me and your mother will stop pestering you about it. But Bird I encourage you to come talk to us when your ready." Daddy said and I listened to their foot steps fade down the hall. I sighed in relief, I thought they'd never leave. I just wanted to sit here and feel miserable for myself for a while. Why couldn't they just accept that? Ring! Ring! Ring!

"Hello."

"Ray! Are you OK you seemed upset when you were leaving school. But I didn't get a chance to talk to you because, you were gone to quick." Tina sounded really concerned. I knew it was time I told her everything. Maybe she could, help me make sense of things and figure some stuff out.

"Could you come over?"

Ten minutes later a soft knock sounded at my door followed by Tina saying,'Don't worry it's me just me." I got up and let her in and as soon as the door was shut and locked I broke down and told her everything. I sobbed in to Tina's shoulder as she rubbed my back trying to sooth me.

'Hey I don't blame you for rejecting him. You just need time to learn to trust him and not have your guard up against him."

I lifted my head up and and said,"I do really want to trust him and believe that his feelings for me are real. But that's so hard after, all that I've been through with him."

"I know its hard for you, so like I said I don't blame you. You two need to build trust and a relationship off that trust which, love is included in." I sighed and headed to my bathroom, and washed my face and stared at my eyes. They were red from crying so much and cheeks flushed, I groaned and walked back to my bed laying face first on it. Tina stroked my back and I began to feel relaxed. Before, I knew it I was asleep.

Yawning I threw the cover off me and was startled to feel a figure shift next to me. I stifled a scream leaping out of the bed. I let out a huge breath, and put my hand to my heart which, was racing wildly. It was only Tina, I guess she must've spent the night. My phone vibrated on the night stand and I looked at a text from Carmen.

Hey!

Hi?

I guess I deserve that I was a total bitch to you guys yesterday. And I just wanted to say I'm sorry. Forgive me?

Yes of course. I'll text you later.

I groaned I wished Tina could've stayed longer but, she really wanted to see her mate and I couldn't deprive her that. She really cared about her mate and he cared about her. They wouldn't have dreamed of rejecting each other because thats how in love they were. I was jealous of Tina for that reason, I couldn't have my guard down around my mate even if I wanted to. Because the times I had he hurt me. I felt the tears coming on again, I knew I couldn't give in to them.

Ring! Ring! Ring! I unlocked my phone and stared at the unfamiliar number but answered it any way.

"Hello."

"Please don't hang up." It was Rick. "I know you said you didn't want to give us a shot. But this time I'm serious and want to prove to you I am."

"Look I know you say you are but how could you possibly prove it?"

"Come on a date with me." I was laying across my bed and shot up like a rocket when I heard that.

"Y-you mean w-w-with you?" I stammered. Rick laughed and it sounded really sexy. I felt my face heat up when I realize what I had said.

"Well yea or do you have someone else in mind?" He was messing with me now.

"What time you picking me up?"

I opened the door to see Rick standing there in a suit. And man, did he look good in that suit. I couldn't stop myself from raking my eyes up and down his body. When my eyes landed on his face and seen the huge smirk on it. I felt a blush creeping up my neck to my cheek and it grew brighter as his eyes took me in, in my little black dress that stopped mid-thigh. I had on black strappy high heels and no make up besides, mascara.

"Shall we?" He held out his arm for me. My parents weren't home so I didn't bother calling out bye. He opened the passenger door of his Mustang for me and shut it behind me. I was actually pretty excited about this date. Even though, I still had my guard up and knew I probably shouldn't get too comfortable. Rick got in to the car and smiled over at me flashing his pearly whites.

"You were ready?"
