Chapter 52 - Out With The Old Life ... In With The New Life part 1
Amelia's POV
Moments. Moments in time that seem to pass by in slow motion, the ones that seem to mark important and astounding stages in life that you will remember forever. Moments like that have never happened for me, but the few moments I have had weren't great amazing spaces in time that solidified my place in the world or reveal my purpose for living, no, they were moments that stole life away from you, ones that chipped away at your soul and left you battered and alone.
No, I never was lucky enough to have any amazing peaks in my life, but as I walked through the threshold of the Sullivan's estate, I hoped with everything I had that my defining moment was near.
Everyone was quiet when I stopped in the massive foyer of the mansion; everyone's eyes were on me as I slowly placed my bag and things down on the marble floor and took a deep breath, "I made a promise... and I plan to keep it," my eyes rested for a few beats with every Sullivan around me as I spoke, making sure they could see that I meant what I was saying. Then, not feeling the need or desire to elaborate on anything at the moment, I picked my bag and things back up and side stepped around Eleanor and Nolan and briskly headed up the long staircase to the room I called mine.
Carmela's POV
As soon as I knew Amelia was in her room, I glared at my entire family, "What the hell is going on? You're moving up the wedding? How can you do this to Amelia, springing all this on her so fast? This isn't right, you haven't even really given her a chance to adjust to what's about to happen to her."
"We gave her a few months, I think that was more than enough time. If she hasn't come to terms with what she agreed too by now then she never will," Cole chimed in swiftly making me glare even harder at him.
Looking from him to Eleanor and my father I pleaded with them, "Please give her a little more time. She's a human being; she's not like us. This is all new to her and you all know this. What you are asking her to do is more serious then just marrying into this family... She's giving up her entire life... literally."
I felt Anthony come to stand behind me; securing his hand with one of mine and giving it a light squeeze, "Hey, come on babe, take it easy alright. Your father and Eleanor know what they've asked of Amelia... and besides," he said while turning me around to face him, "It's not like your letting a friend walk into a cage of lions here. This is your family you know Amelia will be safe with them, they're not going to hurt her," Anthony tried to reassure me. But it didn't quite work as I turned quickly around to glare back at my three silent brothers.
"I know they would never physically harm Amelia, but that doesn't mean they won't hurt her... they've done it too many times already and that's what worries me." With that I took Anthony's hand again and pulled him away from my family. I needed to get away from them for a while and I needed to make sure Amelia was really okay with everything; because if I wasn't... how could she be.
Damon's POV (Back in the City)
It was done, I had secured my place at the Royal families annual end of the year banquet. It was harder than I'd realized it would be, seeing as I had to crack some heads to get my spot. My 'partners' were becoming skittish with the plan we'd originally agreed upon, but just as I'd reminded them when we'd met hours ago, there was no turning back now. They were in this just as deep as I was and the only way out of it was death... by me.
As for the Sullivan's banquet, none of the family will know I'm to attend... it will be the surprise of the night I'm certain and if all goes as planned, I will have my reward and the brothers will get what's coming to them.
