*Cassandra's POV*

We had been on the road for almost an hour, and we had 2 hours to go. I was so excited. My headphones were in, and I was listening to all of Austin's songs, on repeat. I was reading a book and mom was driving, singing a tune from the radio.

My eyes became heavy as mom turned onto a backroad. I just shrugged, guessing it would make the trip faster. I wasn't sure, but whatever got us there. My eyes finally shut as I felt the car turning. I fell into a deep slumber.

My eyes popped open to mom singing loudly. I looked at the time on the radio and it read "9:42." I looked out into the darkness around us as I pulled out my left ear bud to listen to mom singing to the radio once again, because she was a good singer.

"Baby I've been, I've been losing sleep. Dreaming about the things that we could be. But baby I've been, I've been praying hard. I said no more counting dollars, we'll be counting stars," she sang, dragging out the r in stars.

I turned back to the road, leaving my left headphone out, so I could listen to mom. I closed my eyes admiring the beauty in moms voice. I didn't mean to, but i drifted off.

About 30 minutes later I was awoken to my mom screaming as a car was speeding, coming straight at us. I thought this was a 1-way road? I began to scream as well as mom looked over me, horrified. Mom hit the emergency button in the car, as a girl said "an ambulance is on the way. We have located your car. Stay alert if you can." Mom grabbed my hand and whispered "I love you" as the car slammed into us. I saw the headlights, the bright headlights before the front of the car was demolished. I hit my head on the dash. My leg was in a lot of pain. I tried to look down at it but I couldn't see. My eyes were forcing their way shut. I had no control over my own body. Darkness took over my body.
