{this takes place after they spend their time in Servilla and after they accept Nizam into the league}
"I need to see them Ammon." Adira yells, storming into the room. Ammon follows closely behind her."You know we can't! We left them there for a reason Ra." He says. She swivels around to face him, catching the attention of the rest of the room. {Shafir, Nizam, and Jasir}
"I know but- but we can't just forget about them. It's been nine months!" She says, her voice cracking. Shafir stands up instinctively and defensively.
"Forgive me for interrupting, but what are you two talking about?" He says hesitantly. Ammon looked at with with a raging fire in his eyes.
"Stay out of this. You have no right to-"
"Ammon, watch your tone. He's just asking-"
"He's one of the reasons why we did what we did."
Jasir clears his throat when he realizes who they were referring to: Nadya and Tabassum. {Adira and Ammon's children} He swore to Adira that he would stay silent about the topic, but he could hear in her voice how desperate she was to see them.
"Adira, if you want to see them I can take over for a little while." He calmly tells her. She warmly smiles but Ammon shakes his head.
"And risk leading the Scorpions to them? I- I can't lose another child" {reference to Adira's miscarriage}
"Adira, are you talking about your children?" Nizam asks, instantly attracting her and Ammon's attention.
"Your what?" Shafir yells.
"How...how did you know about them?" She says. Nizam breathes a deep sigh and looks away from her gaze. He knows that after what he did, no matter how long he tried to hide it, she would eventually find out and, as she should, never forgive him.
"A couple of months ago, when I was still apart of the Council, we received word that you and Ammon where in Servilla. I went with a small group to investigate and we saw Leo with two children. The girl, she- looked like you when you were a young girl. That's how I knew that those were my- your children. Beowulf wanted to t-take them, hurt them to get to you. I fought him on it and-I'm so sorry." He buries his face in his hands. Adira steps towards him.
"What did you do?" She growls lowly. Ammon grabs one of her arms to keep her back.
"I lost that fight...partially. I managed to convince him not to hurt them unless absolutely necessary. I'm sorry Adira I-"
"Do you realize that the deal you made with him won't be honored anymore since they exiled you? How could you do this? I-" She breaks down in tears. Her only two children where in the hands of her enemies. Based on how every scenario prior and similar to this has played out, she knew deep down something terrible was going to happen. Ammon held her close to his chest as she failed at suppressing her sobs.
"I have to get them." She said between breaths.
"Think rationally about this Adira. You're the most wanted person in the Society. You wouldn't be able to get anywhere near Rabat." Ammon says.
"Ammon, I don't think you understand her. You've never seen her when someone is threatening someone she loves. She will do almost anything to save them." Shafir tells him.
"I'm pretty sure I understand. Remember our little encounter a year ago." Ammon hisses, subtly waving his amputated arm.
"Boys, that's enough." Adira says sternly. Ammon pulls away.
"No, he's trying to tell me I don't understand my own wife! The nerve-"
"Shut up. I'm going to get my kids, even if it kills me."
"And what, leave me alone?"
"They are and will be our only children. I have to save them."
"Will be our only children? We can try again!" Adira stormed away from him, subtly wiping away tears.
"Nadya and Tabassum will be our only children." Ammon, Shafir, and Nizam looked at each other. If she wanted more children, why wouldn't she try again. Jasir looked at her when it clicked.
"You can't bear children anymore, can you?" He says. Adira glanced back at him.
"Adira, explain. I though you were with child now." Ammon says, walking to her and resting his hand on her stomach.
"I-I'm sorry." This was the only thing she could manage to say. She didn't want to tell him about the four other children she lost.
"Adira, Ra talk to me. What's going on?" He cradled her face in his hand.
"After the first miscarriage, and the-last encounter with Mikael, I haven't been able to keep a child." She says softly. He shakes his head.
"It was only one child, and we haven't been trying all that much, you can't know that." He tries to say comfortingly. She stepped away from him and turned away from everyone's gaze.
"I have sat in our room four times, surrounded and covered in my own blood, staring at the dead fetus that came out of me. Don't you dare tell me I don't know."
"Why didn't you tell me? I deserve to know about this stuff! Adira, you lost four children? My Gods-"
"That's why she didn't tell you. She knew you would lose it and make her feel like it was her fault. It's not her fault." Shafir growls.
"You do you think you are talking to me like that? Stop acting like you know everything because you don't. She's the mother, she should be able to keep a child, or I chose a weaker wife than I thought." The room went dead silent. Ammon slowly turned to Adira who already had tears streaming down her face. Once he fully understood what he said he starting walking towards her. Adira started stepping back and away from him.
"Adira, please, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. Please, listen to me." He says. She shakes her head.
"Just leave me alone." She cries. He kept getting closer to her.
"Ammon. It would be best to leave her be." Nizam says, walking to his daughter. He takes her hand and leads her out of the room.
"I wish to be alone Nizam. Please." She told him weakly. He held her face in his hands.
"Don't listen to him. You are the strongest woman I have ever known. You're handling four miscarriages far better than some woman handle a minor cut."
"Just leave it. I don't want to think about it anymore-"
"No, I won't leave it. No man should disrespect his wife like that. He used to be so polite, what happened?"
"A lot. He has lost so mu-
"You've lost more. I refuse to let him treat you like this."
"You're the only one that feels that way, father. Just leave it be."
"I'm not the only one; Shafir was ready to tear him limb from limb-"
"I said leave it be! I'm going to my room for the night and I wish not to be disturbed."
"Shafir and Ammon aren't going to leave you alone, not after that." Adira walked close to him.
"Then tell them if they disturb me, it won't be my blood I'm covered in tonight."
