She hadn't seen Ammon all day, which was worrisome. Ever since they had found Kovu unconscious, he hadn't left his brother's side. Adira understood the pain, but she also wanted to spend time with her love. She felt partially responsible for his pain, being the one who hurt his brother, but she didn't have any other choice.
She knew she had to talk to him, but she didn't know how. She had a perfectly valid reason to shove Kovu out the window. Explaining the reason, though, is what made her afraid. She was scared to tell Ammon what happened. Everything about the situation sounded bad down to the marks on her neck. If she told him, she risked her relationship.
It had been a long day, and she wanted nothing more than to go to sleep. When she got into the room, Ammon was at the window, leaning on the railing. His breathing was labored, and his knuckles white. She instantly knew something was wrong.
"Ammon-"
"Kovu's awake." He snapped, not letting her get more than that one word. "And he started talking." Fear grew in her.
"What did he say?"
"Tell me it's not true." He growled.
"What's not true?" She asked softly, walking towards him.
"Tell me that you did not fuck him."
The world around Adira started to spin as her heart raced. What did Kovu tell him?
"What are you talking about, I-"
"Don't even try Adira. He told me everything. I just want to know why."
He sounded so broken. It wasn't even her fault, but that didn't make her feel any better. She should've told him.
"He came on to me-"
"Oh, so that makes it okay then."
"Ammon, please. Let me explain."
"Explain what? How you managed to get him in bed? How you-"
"Enough. We did not sleep together. We didn't get anywhere close to it." She snapped.
"Then how did you get those marks on your neck?"
"Look at me, goddammit. I didn't do anything-"
"Just shut up." He turned around and looked her dead in the eye before walking out of the room.
Adira was stunned. Everything came crashing down at once, and she couldn't control it. She had lost her husband at the word of his brother. The fear, the anger, the sadness hit her all at once, and she broke down in tears. How could she have let this happen? She couldn't help but feel that this was all her fault.

Rafid was concerned. Adira had missed dinner, and no one had seen her since her meeting in the morning. Normally she would be out with Ammon or Shafir, or out talking with new people. Casually, he had looked in all the spots she would typically hide from people, but she was nowhere to be found. There was one place he had left to check. He walked up to her door and softly knocked on it.
Adira sat up shakily, but didn't reply. There was no one she could talk to that could possibly make her feel better.
He knocked again. "Adira?"
She sighed and cleared her throat. She didn't want to, but she knew she had to talk to him. "What do you want Rafid?"
"I brought you food, since you missed dinner." He said softly.
"Come in."
Rafid slowly opened the door and shut it quietly behind him. He had never seen her this way before. She was, to put it simply, an absolute mess. It was obvious she had been crying. He walked towards her, and handed her the bowl he had brought her. He then sat next to her and watched her eat.
