Love Is A Lost Cause

Veronica paced along the corridor near the ICCU. She knew the surgery won't do anything good on her father. But she can hope.

Hope

Hope is the only thing that has made her survive through her past. Through hope she became a strong,courageous and an independent woman that she is now.

Rishi came near Veronica and whispered"how's your wound?"

"It's okay" she replied.

"Sit down, girly. You should be talking rest right now."

"I know but *sigh* … … okay" Veronica replied.

Five days prior,coming to Kerala. Veronica's college was attacked. Those guys entered her class and stabbed her. Police investigators told that she was being targeted. She was in hospital under police protection. Then the terrible news came.

"Car accident… … uncle … critical… aunt miss…ing … … aunt missing, Ron." A very panicked Nathan called her in hospital.

"Ron!" Jamy called.

Veronica was pulled out of her trance and looked at Jamy.

"Representatives of Braunstorm company are here to talk with us" Jamy said.

"Tell them to wait. We won't go anywhere till Appa's surgery is done." Veronica said with finality.

"Ron-"
"Family is more important, Jamy." Veronica interrupted.

"Okay".

After some hours of surgery.

Dr. Sam who is in charge of Veronica's father,came out and called Veronica to his office.

Veronica followed the doctor alongside Jamy to his office.

"I can't give you any more false hope. Surgery went well but I'm not satisfactory till he show any change. See, he is 60 years old. Showing any positive change will actually be a miracle. But I'm still keeping him under observation." Dr. Sam said when they all were sitting in his office.

"Jamy, don't lose hope,please!" Veronica pleaded.

Jamy looked at her and hummed in response.

They left doctor's cabin and were walking back to the waiting lounge.

"Jamy, we can't say anything to anyone. Our siblings are already worried. I don't want to see them scared or something. Please!!" Veronica begged.

"Ron, anyhow they will know-"

"We can tell them after some days. Not now. Anyway their peace of mind will be gone soon. It's inevitable, i know. It's now our duty to take care of them ,Jamy. We dont want them afraid." Veronica said and walked away from him.

"Ron!" Jamy called.

She turned around.

"I'm scared, Ron. I… i… now i have to take care of 4 of you,right? I'm worried that I'll mess it up bad. Parents are gone. Me… alone." James ranted.

Veronica walked back to where her brother was standing and told him
"You are not alone,Jamy. We both are going to take care of them and don't lose hope on our parents. Especially for Mom. She will be alright. We may make mistakes but in time, we will be alright. All of us will be alright. Got that?"

"I'll be alright,if you are with me,Ron."

" I have always got your back, Jamy and now also I'm saying…
        
                  I have got your back.

Come on, let's go. Jean will get worried."

Jamy followed Veronica silently. When they reached the waiting lounge. They saw Rishi and Jean standing outside worried.

"Why are you standing outside?" Jamy asked.

"Those representatives were so brash and pushed us away and locked us out, keeping Gus and Anna inside." Jean replied.

"What?!" Shocked Veronica asked.

Nathan was coming along with security guard from the opposite direction.

"Sorry guys, i couldn't do anything." Nathan said.

Looking at the security guard,Nathan said "Open the door, brother".

He opened the door with his set of spare keys and moved out of the way.

Anna was hiding behind Gus. Both of them, cornered by four bulky men.

"Hey, what the hell do you think you are doing?" Jamy asked.

"Wow! The elder one looks more beautiful than this girl." One of the bulky men spoke.

"Let's see about that after this. Rishi, take Jean out. Anna, get out of here." Jamy said.

As soon as the girls went out. Gus, Nathan and Jamy ran to the men and the fight started.
More security men came and joined in, someone called police and separated them and arrested the bulky men...
