Caelie's POV

"Okay, so who's first?" My dad questioned after we were all comfy in our seats.

"First?" I asked him, sitting criss cross apple sauce on one end of the couch.

"Uh, first to open their gifts?" He restated. Oh.

"I don't know, why don't you go first?" Avery said, looking at me.

"I don't feel like it," I shifted into an upside down position on the sofa. I wanted either of them to open their presents first, so I could live knowing if they liked their (my) gifts or not.

"Let's just open our gifts at the same time, then," My dad suggested after a few moments of silence.

"Yeah. Sure." Avery and I agreed.

We all stood up from our seats and grabbed whatever present had our names on it. I found about 7 wrapped packages that were mine, and walked back to my seat. I picked out something from the little pile I had at random.

"Ooh, I wonder what it is," Avery smiled while shaking a little box near her ear.

"Opening gifts. In 3, 2, 1, GO!"

We all started tearing the decorated paper apart and throwing it onto the floor.

When I had finished taking off the paper, I had a little box about the same size as Avery's in my hand. It was a deep purple color, with a light purple ribbon bow tied around the whole box.

I looked over at Avery and saw that she had a similar box, but instead hers was blue with a sky blue bow tied around it.

My dad opened a gift that Avery and I had bought last week. It was a fleece pajama two piece set with a red plaid shirt and matching trousers, complete with three pairs of red, green, and white sweater socks. It was all inside the large box he was holding.

Avery and I smiled at each other before we proceeded to open the small boxes in our hands.

I gasped. It was so beautiful. It was simple-ish, but it was still very pretty.

The silver chain bracelet was embedded in purple silk cloth whose color was similar to the bow's. It had five little charms that hung on five separate rings: a green four leaf clover, a light purple 'C', an artist's palette with a paintbrush, a vault (those things in gymnastics), and a detailed silver bird that had its wings outstretched, as if it were flying. I gently tugged it out of its box, and held it in my hand as I examined it.

"Woah."

I picked up the torn pieces of wrapping paper that were strewn across the floor to look for the name of the person this was from. I searched for some sort of sticker on the things. Whoever wrapped this must have used a lot of wrapping paper, because there was a lot on the floor. I hadn't even noticed how much there was.

After I found a piece of paper that had a little white sticker adhered to it, I read the barely legible handwriting.

To: Caelie

From: Dad :)

I looked at my dad with wide eyes and an open mouth, with the wrapping paper still in my hands.

"T-thanks, Dad," I stuttered while grinning at him. This must have cost a fortune. It was obviously expensive, I can't believe he got me such a pricey gift. Usually, he got me some inexpensive sweaters, fuzzy socks, things like that. Was there a special occasion that I'm being left out of? I'm definitely missing something here.
