"You better be good at school Mackenzie! No silly business!" My godmother shouts from the car.

"Yes, Godmother. I will be good." Once the words left my mouth, godmother sped off in her white Buick Verano down the road without a care in the world. Truthfully, I don't see why she would think I would be bad. I never really do anything.

Today marks the day of my first day at Sparrowford High School as a senior. Technically it is my first time going to school in my life or even leaving the house. Only books and newspapers kept me connected to the world. From time to time, a doctor comes to the house for my checkups. Somehow I never really understand the human race. "Beyonce is overjoyed with the birth of her baby." "Everyone is sad because of the closing over the awesome Joey's Burgers." I wonder about the feeling of joy and sadness...I never felt it or understand it. If I try it is hard and I come up blank.

I look around me and see people smiling, talking, and laughing going inside. I always thought the school was a scary place to be or that what the books say. Why are these people so happy? I wouldn't know what the feeling of happiness is anyway. While one person would be happy, scared, or even nervous, I don't feel anything. I really don't know or experienced a feeling. When godmother came in my room at told me I am going to school, I looked at her then back at my book, completely blank about the event.

Slowly proceeding into the school, I received some stares. I keep my eyes straight ahead of me. Why are they staring at me anyway? Did I do something? Whatever, it is probably because I am new.

I remember godmother giving me a schedule before I left the car. Taking a review over it I notice I am in advance science. I guess godmother was not bluffing when she said that she will get me in advance classes.

A short lady with a huge smile on her face ran towards me. Her hair was blonde and in a neat bun and was well dressed for business. I looked at her with a blank face, resulting in her smile to go even wider.

"Hello! You must be Mackenzie Adams. My name is Ms. Haynes. We have been expecting you!" she says in a very cheery voice. What is so cheery you need to smile for?

"Hello." I greeted back bluntly, "How do you know I am Mackenzie?"

"Your guardian showed us a picture of you," she replies grabbing my hand and pulling me towards what it looks like an office. She sat down in her chair and did some typing on the computer. Then hands me a map of the school," This will help you get to your classes. Hopefully, you will find some friends who are familiar with the school that will help you."

I took the map and look at it." Thank you."

"No problem Mackenzie and smile a bit more. You would look twenty times better. Are you excited?" She cheers.

"I never felt excited before. How do you feel excitement?" I ask. Ms. Haynes face frowns and she raises her eyebrows.

"How about you head to class now. You will be late." she pushes me along outside and closed the office door behind her.

My advance science class doesn't seem far from where I was standing so I head my way there. The halls seemed so empty. It looks like everyone is already in class.

Room 201 is what the schedule says, so checking with the number on the door when it matched. Knocking on the door and a female voice came from inside the room letting me know I can come in. I pushed my book bag on my shoulder and walked inside. I got an immediate blast of cool air from the AC in the room. Everyone was staring at me. Some people were snarling, I however just kept my focus on the tall, black-haired, teacher in front of me.

"You must be the new student that will be in my class. Ms. Haynes called from the office and told me you were coming," she smiles. What is with everyone smiling today?" My name is Ms. Ruiz and I will be your Advance science teacher. How about you say your name to the class and a little bit about yourself."
