in the chaos and through the haze
of tear-clouded eyes,
she whispered that one word
on repeat.
stop.
it didn't stop and even after
she carved it into her body,
it didn't stop,
so neither did she,
until the red consumed her.
when the scolding water poured down
and refused to melt her body away,
that word she carved
silently rang out.
