During lunch, Avery smiled and sat down next to me at the lunch table.

"Wow, you're actually alive!" Avery exclaimed. I rolled my eyes and smirked a smile. "What was it like having them in your classes?"
"Well, they both attempted to talk to me." I explained. "But then after their attempt failed, they just stopped talking and actually listened to the lecture in class."
"Or they just sat there daydreaming." Avery added.
"But still, usually the school bullies cut class or cause trouble in the classroom." I explained. "They didn't do anything."
"Well, each bully works in different ways." Avery stated. "It's your first day, but you'll soon realize what they really do."
"What do they really do?" I asked.
Avery shrugged, "Dan usually curses and walks out of the classroom when he doesn't understand something. Phil just sits there and screws around until the teacher gets them to leave. At least, that's what I hear."
"Well then how come they didn't do that today?" I asked.
Avery shrugged. "Just a lucky day I guess."

We suddenly noticed them coming into the cafeteria. It was a little confusing because it wasn't their lunch period. I watched as the two of them both sat down with another group of guys.

"See? I told you." Avery stated. "They're both cutting classes."
"What classes?" I asked.
"They both cut history class together since they're there the same time." Avery said. "They do it all the time."
"How do you know what classes they have and at what time?" I asked.
Avery let out a chuckle, "Everybody does!"

As we continued eating, the same freshman kid who Dan and Phil nearly beat up earlier came to sit with us.

"You guys don't mind if I sit here, do you?" Tyler asked.
"No, not at all." I responded.
"Thanks." The boy smiled as he sat down. "My name's Tyler by the way."
"Nice to meet you." I responded.
"Hey, aren't you in the GSA club?" Avery asked. Tyler nodded.
"GSA club?" I asked.
Tyler nodded. "Gay/Straight Alliance Club. We do all sorts of projects together to try and encourage people to accept our sexuality. Although, ever since I came out a couple months ago, Dan and Phil have both been bullying me on it."
"That's terrible!" Avery exclaimed.
"It's not phasing me at all though that they bully me for my sexuality." Tyler assured us. "It's just the fact that they're bullying me in general that's hurting me."
"Yeah, bullying is terrible." I responded.

As I looked over Tyler's shoulder, I noticed Dan and Phil both heading out of the cafeteria together.

I slowly stood up from the table.

"What're you doing?" Avery asked.
"Nothing, I'm just going to the bathroom." I said.

Before Avery could respond to anything else, I had already left the table and headed outside of the cafeteria. As I looked down the hall, I noticed Dan and Phil opening a door and going into a room. I quickly and quietly walked over to the room they were in. But there were no windows, so I couldn't see anything.

But there was a sign on the door.

School Roof.

I became confused as to why they were going up on the roof. I then imagined the different scenarios that they could be doing on that roof and I didn't bother answering the question. Instead, I went back to the cafeteria.

"What were you doing?" Avery asked.
"I was going to the bathroom." I answered.
"You couldn't have gone that quickly." Avery responded.
"You'd be surprised." I stated.

Finally, Avery decided to stop talking and we continued to eat lunch.
---
I didn't see either Dan or Phil since I saw them going into that one room labeled 'school roof'. Was that there little hangout area where they just cut classes the rest of the day?

But as soon as school was dismissed for the day, as Avery and I were leaving the school, we noticed Dan and Phil going over to the bike rack to grab their bikes. We watched from a distance as they unlocked their bikes, went on their bikes and rode off in the other direction.

"Just FYI, after school hours is when stuff really goes down." Avery said.
"I'll believe it when I see it." I responded.
---
Later on that night, after I had finished my homework, the six o' clock news came on. The top story showed graffiti that was sprayed on the wall of an antique store. The words sprayed on the wall had to be pixelated because it was inappropriate.

They then showed an interview with the local chief of police.

"We know who was considered responsible for this heinous act." The officer explained. "But unfortunately, due to unusual circumstances, we cannot press any charges."
My dad shook his head again. "So people can get away with everything, that's just sad."
"There needs to be some sort of justice for these poor people." My mom responded.
"Society today just sucks." I added.

Just then, my phone buzzed with a picture from Avery, who was also watching the news with us.

You-know-who did this.

Obviously, that didn't surprise me.

I went up to my room so I could FaceTime with Avery. She immediately answered.

"So why the hell did they graffiti the walls of an antique store of all places?" I asked.
"They literally do this stuff for no reason." Avery responded.
"Well, what about those guys they were hanging with at lunch? Do you think they're all part of some sort of gang?" I asked.
"No, they only work together as far as I know." Avery responded. "Those other guys who Dan and Phil hung out with at the cafeteria do their own little thing, things that don't land them in trouble with the law."
"That's crazy." I said.
"See? I told you they were crazy." Avery bragged.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it." I said. "You're right, I'm wrong."
"I never said you were wrong." Avery said.

I then changed the subject.

"Maybe we can try and talk to them about it?" I suggested.
"I'M not going to do that." Avery insisted. "YOU can do whatever you want! Be my guest! Just leave me out of it!"
"Alright, fine, I was just suggesting something." I responded.
"I highly doubt you can do anything to help them." Avery assured me. "Even if you somehow are able to talk to them, they probably won't listen to you."
"Yeah..." I sighed.

After a few minutes, Avery logged off of FaceTime and I decided to pass the time by unpacking more of my things.

While I was continuing to unpack, I heard two familiar voices outside of my house.

Dan and Phil.

I slowly went over to my window and peeked out the window. They were on their bikes, stopped right on the side of the road, in front of my yard.

"What the hell do you want us to do, Phil?" Dan asked. "We've been wrongly accused again! We can't just go over and say we didn't do it, they won't believe us!"

My eyes widened, did they seriously not do what the news said they did?

"Listen, we're going to try and find the thugs actually responsible for the crime and make sure they get convicted." Phil assured Dan.
"But they already said they weren't going to do anything." Dan said.
"That's because they think we did it, and ever since our crime sprees have increased, they've basically given up on us." Phil explained. "But for the past couple of weeks, the crimes committed were not done by us!"
"Well everybody in town knows us as the school troublemakers, so there's no way they're not going to doubt that we're the culprits." Dan stated.
"Listen Dan, everything is going to be alright. We're going to figure everything out, and we're not going to give up until we figure out who is actually responsible for this mess." Phil said.

With that, everything grew silent again and I could hear the sound of their bikes rolling away.

Questions began rolling through my head again after hearing that conversation.

The main question though was, if Dan and Phil didn't commit that crime, then who did?
