I somehow survived the rest of the school day. As soon as the final bell rang, Dan, Phil and I went over to our bikes and tried to be one of the first out of there. But then, as I grabbed my bike, it felt like my bike was a lot harder to wheel back. As I looked down, I found the source of the problem.

A flat tire, from a screw, which was obviously popped by somebody.

As I looked over to Dan and Phil, they also had the same problem.

"Well, shit..." Dan sighed.
"I can always get my parents to drive you back to the apartment if you need to." I insisted.
"No, don't worry about it, we'll be fine." Phil assured. "We might be able to get air in our tires from the nearby gas station."
"Are you sure they'll be okay with that?" I asked.
"They're fine with us." Dan responded. "They told us as long as we don't steal any of their supplies then we could stop by there anytime."
"Okay, well at least that's somebody else who at least shows some decency towards you." I said.
"Yeah, I know." Phil agreed.

The three of us wheeled our bikes over to my house. I then watched as Dan and Phil continued on, waving goodbye to me as I made my way up my driveway.

I then became concerned with leaving the two of them alone. After being told about the possible consequences from the ritual that we could face, I got that feeling that we shouldn't be alone. I knew Dan and Phil weren't technically alone, but in a way they were.

I then went inside of my house, where I noticed mom and dad waiting for me at the door.

"What's going on?" I asked.
"Guess who got promoted at work?" Dad asked.
I rolled my eyes and smiled, "Gee... I wonder who..."
"Me!" Dad responded.
"You've only been working there for like... two months." I said.
"Well, this job was to help me become promoted." Dad explained.
"Oh, cool..." I responded. "So what does this mean?"
"Well, this means that in a few months we'll be moving across the country!" Mom exclaimed.

I wanted to gasp and scream in total excitement, but then my mind only set on one thing, well two people. Dan and Phil. What were they going to do? What if they don't become popular or viral enough to move in the city. They'll suffer in this town the same way they always have, or much worse.

And what about me? If this whole thing with everyone cursing me works, will I be affected even after I move away? Or will they finally leave me alone.

I knew I had to take things one step at a time. First thing I had to do was to probably tell Dan and Phil. I knew they would probably be upset when I told them, but I knew at some point I had to.

But then, just as I got on my phone to try and text them to see if they could talk, Phil suddenly called me.

"Hey Phil." I said.
"Emma!" Phil exclaimed in a panic.
"Whoa, Phil what's going on?" I asked.
"You know that whole curse thing everybody was telling us they were doing on us? I think it's starting to affect us!" Phil explained. "Dan just got really sick on the side of the road after we left the gas station, and he's not even vomiting vomit, he's vomiting blood!"
"Phil, you gotta call an ambulance!" I exclaimed.
"I called the hospital, I called 9-1-1 and everything! There was no response!" Phil responded.
"How can 9-1-1 not be responding?" I asked raising my voice.

Phil then paused for a moment to talk to Dan, who I could hear moaning and breathing loudly in the background.

"Dan, Dan can you hear me?" Phil asked calmly to him.
"I need... help..." Dan moaned.
"Dan, don't worry, we're going to get you help. Everything is going to be alright, just hang in there alright?" Phil asked.

There was a moment of silence before I heard Dan moan again, followed by Phil shouting.

"Dan! Dan!" Phil shouted.
"Phil! What's going on?" I asked.
"Dan collapsed, he's not waking up!" Phil exclaimed.
"Phil, where are you guys?" I asked.
"We're just near the town entrance a good distance from our apartment building!" Phil stated.
"Alright, I'm on my way! Stay right where you are!" I demanded.

I immediately went over to my mom and dad.

"What's going on?" Mom asked.
"Dan got really sick and needs help being taken to the hospital!" I explained.
"Do you want us to drive them?" Dad asked.
"Please, if you don't mind." I nodded.

Mom and Dad both followed me out quickly into the car and I gave them directions to the outside of town. After about 5 minutes, we were finally able to find Phil, who was right next to Dan, who was still unconscious.

Dad immediately went out and helped Phil carry Dan into the car. After everybody was inside, Dad quickly drove off and went right over to the hospital.
