Chapter Nineteen

I wait what seems like an eternity for my death. It was well deserved, for all of the awful things I have done. The funny thing is, death isn't painful, it's almost as if it never had happened.

Wait. I feel warm cloth pressed against my chest.

I open my eyes and see Kylo, his eyes clenched shut, I slowly turn around and see a bullet stuck in its tracks. I step aside and pick it up with my two fingers, astonished by Kylo's fast reflexives. I watch has his chest falls, after all his strength was used to stop the bullet.

I look over at Hux, his mouth wide in disbelief. I look over at Kylo, his breath becoming shallow. I knew I had to end this quick.

"It's done," I cock my head to the side, looking over at Hux, saber in my hand. With one swift strike, he's on the floor. I look around me and gasp at all the bodies on the floor. I killed them, but I did it for him.

I rush over to Kylo, picking him up, "you're going to be okay," I whisper, "I'm with you now."

I softly kiss his hair, and carry him as far as I can. Luckily, there was an empty infirmary just on the other side.

I haistly grab all the materials I could to patch up his wound, knowing it wouldn't be much until I could get him to a doctor.

"Kylo," I shake him softly, watching him grow in pain. I knew there was no moving him, unless...

I jog over to the corner of the room and grab a stretcher, sliding his nearly limp body over the white sheet.

"Hello, Resistance? I need help ASAP, Kylo can't make it much longer." I tell my watch, that was signaling back home.

"Help is on the way." They respond, and everything seemed like a blur from that point on.

I watch as several Resistance soldiers flood the area, picking up Kylo and I. I was so physically and mentally exhausted, everything was hazy and before I knew it we were back.

I wake up and feel General Leia stroking her hand across my forehead, "thank you for bringing him back home." She whispers, her voice shaking. I give her a soft smile, trying not to exhaust myself.

"Is he all right?" I cough out, my voice raspy.

"I think so," she smiles, her eyes filled with tears, "he was in such rough shape, but the laser managed to miss all of his vital organs. He's going to be alright." She assures me.

"When can I see him?"

"Well, the doctors have him resting for the next week." She frowns, knowing that was not the answer I wanted to hear.

I think about it for a second, and realize that we both needed a break from one another, and I needed to let him heal alone.

"Alright," I give her an understanding smile.

"Now," she tells me, holding my hand, "you should probably catch up on some sleep too. You did a lot of hard work these past few weeks. The crew and I have decided to allow you to venter off on a vacation if you choose to accept."

I ponder for a moment, "I think that sounds nice." She gives my arm a tight squeeze, and she walks out.

I stand up and look in the mirror. I look awful, my skin is pale and dehydrated, and my hair was greasy and mangled into knots. However, the medical staff wiped away all the dry blood and remanence of what happened. I take this moment to cry, yes cry. It feels so nice to have the tears stream down my face from all the shit I have gone through to have Kylo. I've never felt true love until I met him.

I wipe the tears, and laugh at myself for loving the feeling of crying. I sigh, and lay back in bed and close my eyes, enjoying the warmth of a safe bed.

"Krista," a voice whispers to me, "Krista, wake up." I moan, opening my eyes. They blur and try to focus, but the room is too bright.

"Who is it?" I ask.

"It's Leia." She spoke.

"Leia? Is Kylo okay?" I say the first thing that comes to mind.

"Yes, yes. He's actually recovering faster than anyone thought."

I sit up, "what? Really?"

"Yes, and he want's to talk to you."

"Me?"

"Yes, you," she laughs, "who else would he want?"

"Are you sure it's oka-"

"Yes, it's more than okay." She reassures me, grabbing my hand. She's warm, unlike the other times I've felt her hands.

I place my bare feet on the tile below me, shivering at how cold and hard it was. My body aches, but I couldn't be more excited than I am right now.

"Well, here we are." She smiles at me as we stand outside his door.

"Why am I nervous?" I laugh.

"Because that's love." She softly spoke, "Go ahead."
