"Why Me?"

My eyes started to open slightly and gradually opened all the way. I found myself tied to a wooden chair in the middle of a dark room. I tried to wiggle out of the ropes that were on my wrists and ankles, but it only made the ropes cut even deeper into my skin. I started crying. I was weak. And then I realized how much pain I was really in.

My ankles and wrists were bleeding, but there was dried blood also so I assumed they were bleeding before. Also, my body was aching, especially my ‘woman’s area’. I didn’t even want to think about why that area hurt so I took my mind off of that subject because it was making me cry even more.

I managed to calm down a little and look around at my surroundings. I was in a dark room with one small window no bigger than a normal piece of paper. Wait, there was light shining through. It looked like it was the morning. They drugged me enough to sleep until morning? Whatever. Also, there was a wooden stair case leading upstairs and a door to my left. I didn’t know where the door led to neither the stairs. I don’t remember anything last night.

Suddenly the door on my left flew open. No one was in the doorway. But, a few seconds later Dave, the kidnapper from last night, was walking towards me along with his two helpers. All I thought was why me?

“Where am I and what do you want?” I asked with a faint, shaky voice, because I had been crying. I still was crying but, not as much as before.

“Shut the f*ck up and listen,” said the taller one of Dave’s helpers.

“Listen,” Dave started off,”We know that you don’t have a clue why you’re here. If you promise to shut your damn mouth and listen we will tell you.”

You simply nodded not daring to say a word.

“Alright where do we start? Oh, your mother.”

I tried as hard as I could to hold back when he said my mother. I didn’t want to show how weak I was.

“She was a feisty one. She wasn’t paying bills and it was becoming an issue with the town.”

What? She never told me this. And how did he now her? I was wondering what else he had to say when he got closer to me.

“And I was a cop at the time. I was kicked out and fired because of your father.”

He pointed his huge finger very close to my face, only a few inches away. It was bothering me.

“I told her that I could make all the bills she was going to need to pay go away. But, I needed something in return. She hooked up with me, cheating on your father.”

There it is. That’s why my parents were fighting.

“Somehow your f*cking father found out and told the town what I was doing. Then I got fired. I lost everything. My job, wife, and house. Yup, believe it or not I was a normal person before all this mess.”

He got a little further away from me softening his voice when he said he lost everything. But he got even closer to me than before.

“And then I realized it wasn’t me it was your father.”

He was giving me the death glare.

“And I’m not going to let this one slip by. HE RUINED MY LIFE.”

I was frightened when he raised his voice that closes to me. It even made me jump a little.

“I asked your dad to pay me a lot of money about what he did to me or I would kill him.”
