"Babe"

Caitlin’s POV

I woke up hearing footsteps running up the stairs. Then Austin walked through the door. I sat up in bed covering myself with the covers.

“Good morning babe.” He smiled. I didn’t actually mind hearing him call me that usually I flip out, but not this time. I fell for him and he fell for me. I actually kind of liked him and thought it was nice for him to say good morning, so I allowed him to call me that. I don’t know I guess I… I guess I like him. He shot me a confused look.

“What?” I asked already know what he would ask.

“Whenever I call you babe you yell at me.”

“Well I’m getting use to you then.” I answered and he smirked.

“Here are your clothes.” He handed me the clothes.

I blushed and said,”Ok thanks. Are you going to leave so I can get dressed?”I slept in his clothes.

“No wasn’t thinking of it. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before anyways.” He laughed and laid down on the couch watching me. Fine. He want to play that game, I’ll play.

I stood up in front of him completely naked with the clothes in my hands. His eyes were roaming my body. I took my time and got dressed in front of him, feeling his eyes burn through my skin.

When I finished I looked up at him.

“I wasn’t done observing.” He said in a cocky tone.

“You’re such an ass.” I said laughing.

Then it was silent. I sat down next to him on the couch in his room, the one he was sitting on.

“Austin?”

He looked up at me.

“What happened to your side?”

I remembered yesterday when I was still with the kidnappers Austin had a huge bruise on the side of his stomach. I saw it last night too.

He didn’t answer, but he got up and grabbed his keys.

“C’mon. I have to get you home.” He said walking out the door and waited for me at the top of the stairs.

I met him at the top of the stairs. He put his hand on my waist and stayed close. I don’t know why he was so sweet all the sudden. But when we got to the bottom of the stairs he removed his hand.

Alex was on the couch watching TV. He didn’t look at us, but started talking.

“Austin I’m going to get going. I’ll see you-“He stopped when he turned around and saw me.

“What?” Austin spat.

“Hi Caitlin.” He said waving.

Austin grabbed my waist again, but this time he pulled me up against his side. He winced in pain a little. But was he jealous? That’s what confused me.

We got to the car and we didn’t talk at all. It was very awkward. We pulled up to my house. Austin didn’t look at me. He looked at the road in front of him. All I was doing was staring at him.

“Just let me see it.” I said reaching to grab his shirt to see the bruise.

He moved away and grabbed my hand. He hurt my hand when he did that. He was harsh and he has never been like that.

“Oww!” I screamed rubbing my wrist. “Austin I’m not leaving until you let me see it!” I protested.

“I’m fine! Just stop asking, it has nothing to do with you!” He yelled making me jump a little.

I wanted to cry. My eyes got really watery. Why was he acting so rude? I just said he was sweet. Bipolar issues I guess. I was still rubbing my wrist from when he harshly grabbed it.

“Really?! Last time I checked the person that took me did that to you! You saved me I thought you cared. I was just trying to help. You always push people away when they try to help.” A few tears escaped my eyes. And Austin looked up at me not realizing I was crying. I thought it was pretty obvious

“Caitlin I do care. And I love that you want to help, but I don’t need it. It doesn’t even hurt that bad anymore.”

“I heard you wince in pain back at the house when you pulled me into you. I know it hurts.” I said with a few more tears escaping my eyes.

“Fine. You want to see it so bad, take a look.”

He lifted up the side of his shirt. There was a big purple circle on his side with dried blood and cuts around it. They must have kicked him, abused him.

“Are you sure you don’t want to take a picture so you can remember?” He asked in a bitchy tone.

He put his shirt back down and then noticed I was crying. I don’t know how he didn’t see it before. He realized how much he hurt me, inside and out.

“Caitlin, I’m sorry.” He tried to tell me.

“No Austin. You don’t need to apologize. It was all my fault.” My voice cracked because I started crying even more.”I’m sorry I cared for you. I won’t do it again.”

He just looked into my eyes with his hazel eyes as I said that.

I opened the car door.

“Babe I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you.” He said.

I turned to face him. Wiping a few tears away I managed to say, “Austin…don’t call me that.”

I closed the door before hearing what he was going to say. I made my way to the front door. I wiped away more tears because they wouldn’t stop and ran up to my room and shut it behind me.

I peered out my window to see if Austin had left and he did. Then I took off his clothes that I was wearing and changed into my own, so my dad wouldn’t be suspicious.

After I calmed down I greeted my dad in the kitchen. I got something to eat and went back up to my room. I spent the day on my laptop. Just doing anything online to get my mind off Austin.

It was soon night time. I took a shower and enjoyed every minute of it. Showers always relieve any stress and make me relax. I got out, put on my favorite sweatpants, and headed to bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I fell asleep in the comfort of my own bed.
