Last night, a Burn Canira fell out of the sky. As random as it is, I've decided to let him stay with us.

"See, my friend lives in the city. At least, he used to." Torch explains, "So I'm going to get back to him."

Shine nods, obviously not too interested. Her wing is healing. Mine, on other hand, got steamrolled by Torch, so it still hurts. I flick it, and red hot pain sears my wing. I instantly regret even attempting to move it.

I miss flying so much. With every passing mile we walk, I miss my home more and more. I miss my mother and father, and I miss my comfy cloud home. I sigh, kicking up grass, which by the way, is not as comfy as cloud fluff. It's not even in the same league. Yet it has to do for now. I miss cloud fluff so much.

What hurts the most is probably the fact that clouds are right above me, twenty four seven, and I can't even touch them.

Although Torch is kind of weird and super clueless,I will give this to him- he is a great talker. Within two days, I've already gotten the story of his life, which as lame as it seems, is actually pretty interesting. He's so independent. My favorite story is probably the one where he found a PowerPet card in the trash, even if it made me cry. Apparently, PowerPets are these little card-things you can play with, and they're really cute and stuff, but his was all broken and glitchy, but he cared for it anyways until it finally gave up and just died.

I really don't get the point of a virtual pet dying, because it's just plain depressing and it's awful to some poor pup who gets banned from using it for a week and then when he comes back, his imaginary friend is dead.

Seriously, it's messed up. Yet I'm still putting a PowerPet on the list of things I want to get when we reach the city. I've never been in a city before, but I can imagine it now- lights flashing, beautiful colors, everything Torch always talks about. I also want to go to Oddball and Ivy's Sweetbone Station, which is this sweet shop that sells bone-shaped treats in every flavor you can imagine. The list of city fantasies just goes on and on. That's not to say I haven't been good company. I tell Torch the myths and legends my mom told me when I was younger.

"Then, after the Unknown Canira disappeared, their light was replaced by darkness. A darkness that became known as the darkest of elements- the Obsidians. Even worse, the Obsidians found the Time Diadem that the Terreskians had buried." I continue, and Torch winces.

"Don't like the story? I know a few others, if you want..." I say.

"NO! NO NO NO. I'm fine. Totally fine." Torch says, putting on a fake smile. I glare at him for a while, and he gestures for me to continue.

"Okay. So, these dragons from this place called Icepeak found the other Diadem, the Space Diadem, and so a war started raging. Before, dimensions had never interacted, but when the war started, the holders of the Time and Space Diadems began conquering dimensions. They were completely drunk on their own power. However, the young Dreamlandians had already made a nice little civilization and were handling quite well. Among them, one Dreamlandian Dalmatian had stepped up- her name was Likira Puppy-Spots, but she became known as Queen Puppy-Spots, or PPS for short.

Verhamera began to have nightmares. Time and space were being ripped apart, and with much more, the whole dimensional ring would simply rip itself into pieces. She had to find something to do, but she was too powerful to interfere."

"Woah, woah, woah." Shine says, "Back it up."

"What?" I ask.

"Creating a whole new world for the heck of it is fine, but stopping a war isn't? What is and isn't against the rules?!"

"First of all, it's mythology. Second of all, if anything I think the war would be important enough for her to interfere in, but not directly. I think it's making things." I say.

"That makes more sense," Torch agrees.

"I think the cool part is the Obsidians, though. They ended up losing the war, right?" Shine says.

"Yeah. I'm getting to that. Verhamera eventually made PPS as her ultimate weapon, drawing PPS's power from remnants of the star that showed everyone to Dreamland. Three heroes braved the war to search the dimensions for the 'stardust'- five Canira. One symbolized love, one symbolized determination, one symbolized hope, one symbolized leadership, and the last one... oh, heck if I know. Together they got enough stardust to give to Verhamera. So then PPS ended the war, but during one vicious battle, QPS died and PPS took over.

They couldn't just destroy the Diadems, because they're unbreakable and if you did break them time and space would rip apart. So Verhamera hid them both again. Legend has it that they will be found again one day and the war will start anew."

Shine and Torch gasp collectively and sarcastically. Then, Shine says, "Wait."

"What?" I ask.

"The star. We saw a star, too. It could've been..."

I look to the heavens. It couldn't have been... could it?

"My mom told me all about those Obsidians," Shine continues, "'If you don't clean your fur the Obsidians will get you.' 'If you go out to the edge anymore the Obsidians will find you'." She mocks her mom, and I can't help but snicker at the lousy imitation."Apparently someone escaped once. He had no marks except for three spiraling scars on his flank. He appeared perfectly stable for a few months, but one night he cracked. He kept whispering about the Obsidians in his sleep and the next morning he was gone. No one knows what happened to him."

I blink. I wouldn't put it past Shine to make up a disturbing story, but this one was eerily real.

Torch is shaking now. "Torch?"

"I'm just cold. Juuuust cold."

I stare at his left flank, and to my surprise, I see the edge of something black. I brush away the fur. Torch snaps and protests, but before he can take my paw off, I reveal three spiraling scars under the overgrown fur.
