Alfie
**********
I placed my bag in my locker ready for tomorrow and closed it. I closed my eyes and sighed to myself. A lot of responsibility has been placed on me all of a sudden. Worst of all, I can't have my father's help as he is the one I'm protecting her from.
This has been on my mind all day. Why can't I stop thinking about her? Why is she always on my mind since that first day?
I unlocked my locker again and took out one of my books, this will let me take my mind off of her. Even for just a little bit.
I sit down on a nearby bench that lined the hallway and started to read. I manage to do this for about 2 minutes until shouting from around the corner attracts my attention.
"Come on guys will you leave me alone for once, I know my eyes are strange, let it go and move on with your life."
Oh great, we have bullies in the school. And they choose to pick on people's eyes now? How imaginative. I hope the victim of the bullies realises that it means nothing.
I hear laughing, it sounds like it came from a group of females.
"I guess that's why you can't make any friends, they're scared to be seen walking around with a freak like you ."
I hear a sigh, a purposefully loud sigh, that must be coming from the person they are attempting to bully.
"I've heard all of this before Alicia, try to become more creative when mocking people next time."
I giggled at that remark. This girl is not having any of it. I like that. I start to walk towards the source of the noise until a loud bang stops me in my tracks.
"What about that boy Melody? That new boy you've been hanging around with? I bet he's only willing to be friends with you because he pities you."
Melody? Are they on about me? I quickly walk around the corner to find a group of girls surrounding Melody, with one of them trapping her up against the locker by squeezing her arm against Melody's neck.
On the other side, I see what looks like her sister trying to break free from the grasp of this girl's friends. Melody looks over at me for a second and then glances back at her bully before looking back at her sister.
"Nobody wants you Melody, you'd have been better off dying along with your parents."
I gasp at that remark. That's just plain cruel. I start to walk forward until I catch a sight of Melody, and I stop in my tracks.
She started to glow pink as she looked down at her bully, and suddenly, Melody pushed her away with such force that she hits the locker opposite.
I felt a force push on me, and I fell to the ground, gazing at Melody in awe. She has powers too! She's like me.
I don't think she knows that though, as she stared down at her hands with fear on her face. She then looks up at her sister, who proceeds to get up and run away.
They don't know about their powers.
Melody runs away, and I pick myself to follow her, but she finds her way to the girl's toilets before I can get to her. And I obviously couldn't go in there.
I suddenly got an idea, and I ran outside to catch up with her sister, who was waiting outside for what I could guess was her friend or her mother.
I approached her and she looked up at me with fear-stricken eyes.
"Who are you?"
She backed away slightly, obviously knowing not to trust strangers.
"My name is Alfie. I'm a friend of your sister. For her sake, can you please do me a favour and not tell your parents about what you just saw her do."
She tilted her head slightly and looked at me with confusion in her eyes.
"Do you know what she did?"
I looked down and thought for a moment. They won't know, so if Melody's powers are showing themselves then I guess I will have to explain to them both what is going on with her.
"I will tell you tomorrow when Melody is with you. Meet me after school tomorrow on the back yard. Don't say anything to your parents."
Ruby nodded, and I turned back to go back to the school. I strolled past the girl's toilets and heard somebody walking around inside.
I can't go in there. I'll write her a note on a post-it note and let her see it when she comes to collect her bag, which was lying in front of her locker.
The girls had gone, which was strange as they seemed like the type of people to wait for her to get back to confront her. Guess they are wimps.
Firstly, I went to my own locker, put my book back and collected some post-it notes out of one of my folders.
Meet me out on the back yard after school tomorrow. We need to talk.
Alfie
That should do. I stuck it on her locker door and headed out of school, where my dad was impatiently waiting for me.
