Chapter 11

Alfie

I sat on a bench situated on the back yard, waiting for the two sisters to show up. I chose a spot that there weren't any security cameras facing so the school wouldn't see anything.

I look down at my hands at the blue flames that emerge from them, my powers are only weak yet. I need to find out what type I am.

Apparently, there are 3, sorcerers of music, items and love. I have tried music but it doesn't seem to change anything. I have yet to find a lucky item to test out.

I don't think I'm in love with anybody, but Melody's name keeps popping into my head every time I think about it.

"Hey"

I looked up and see Melody and her sister walking towards me, Melody's hands were firmly jammed into her pocket.

I took a good look at her sister, she has dark red eyes, just like my father. I've been thinking recently, about what my father said.

He said he had another child with my mother's sister, who he married and then killed. Which means I have a half sister.

My father's wife was very close to Melody's now deceased parents, so it is highly likely that Melody and Ruby would have been taken in by the same people.

Which means, the younger girl standing in front of me now that shares similar features to my father and what I remember of my aunt, is my half sister.

My eyes widened at the realisation. I cannot tell her though, she would tell her parents and then they may stop me from seeing Melody because of who my father is, or even worse, move away. How can I protect Melody if that happens?

But I also cannot tell my father. He would put the pieces together and realise that the person he wants to harm so badly lives so close.

Why is everything so complicated?

"ALFIE!"

I jumped as I was suddenly brought out of my thoughts to a hand waving in front of my face. I shook my head and looked up at Melody, who looked concerned.

"Hi"

Melody rolled her eyes and joined her sister, who was sitting on the floor in front of me. I got off the wall and sat down with them.

Ruby looked into my eyes and seemed to get really excited all of a sudden.

"You have red eyes like me, that's so cool, it's like we're brother and sister or something."

Heh, if only you knew.

I smiled at her and shook my head. I then held out my hands and willed my magic to come forward, which seemed easier than usual to do, it's usually really hard to do since I don't know which sorcerer I am yet.

The girls' eyes widened as my magic danced around my hands. Ruby gazed in awe at the blue aura surrounding my hands.

"What you see here, is magic. I am a sorcerer, which means I have and can control magic, from what I saw from you yesterday Melody, you are a sorceress."

Melody looked up from my hands and into my eyes. She looked afraid, which made me feel quite sorry for her.

"It's nothing to be afraid of though, in fact, it's one of the greatest gifts you can receive."

I put both or my hands together and slowly brought them apart, my magic creating something. I then willed my magic to go away, and in its place sat a blue rose that I created.

I handed the rose to Melody, causing her cheeks to blush a deep red. Ruby was still looking at my hands and the rose in awe.

"Wow. Do you think I will be one as well?"

I leaned forward, not really knowing the answer to this one.

"Only time can really tell, if you want to know, you should ask your parents."

Ruby nodded, taking the rose off of Melody and examining it. I looked at Melody and she looked back, curious for more information.

"Melody, I have a few questions for you, one may be a little awkward, but I need you to answer them so I can find out what type of sorceress you are."

Melody tilted her head slightly and furrowed her eyebrows.

"There are types of sorceresses?"

I nodded.

"Yes, there are 3 in total, one is a sorcerer of item. These sorcerers have a very special item they keep close to them which strengthens their magic, without it, they are weak. Another one is a sorcerer or music. Whenever music is playing either through earphones or in the background, the sorcerer's magic gets stronger, this is, in my opinion, the hardest sorcerer to be because you can't listen to music all of the time, it may also be difficult if you find yourself in danger. But lastly, there is the sorcerer of love, their magic is fuelled by the love they feel for their significant other. This is the strongest sorcerer out of all of the others as if they have someone to love, whether dead or alive, they will still remain strong as long as they still feel love for them."

Melody smiled, trying to take in all of this new information.

"Which one are you?"

I blushed and looked at the floor.

"I don't know yet, I'm definitely not a sorcerer of music because music has no effect on me, but I have yet to find an item or fall in love with anyone to test the other two."

Melody blushed and looked at her sister, who giggled. I looked back up at Melody.

"Well, i'll start with the questions. I'll start with the awkward one, I guess... Are you in love with anybody?"

Melody blushed even redder, which made her sister start laughing, she started to think but then looked back at me.

"Well apart from my parents and obviously Ruby, there's really nobody I've fallen in love with, not yet at least."

I felt a sinking feeling in my gut, and suddenly I felt drained and weak, what is going on with me, why do I feel like this all of a sudden?

"Well do you have an item you hold dear to you? Maybe something you were holding yesterday? Your power seemed pretty strong yesterday considering you managed to knock a fellow sorcerer over."

Melody shook her head.

"I had everything knocked out of my hand by the people who scared me... Oh, I just thought... I had my earphones in yesterday when it happened, they were playing music!"

I smiled.

"I guess that's sorted then, you must be a sorceress of music."

Excitement was present in Melody's eyes.

"Theres one thing though, sorceresses of music tend to be gifted a main music source by their parents when they are a baby, it is the only source of music that allows music sorceresses to access their main source of power, do you know of any like, headphones or earphones your parents may have given you?"

Melody shook her head.

"I could check my parent's room, they may be hiding stuff considering they hid the fact that I was a sorceress my entire life."

I smiled and nodded.

"Good idea."

We were interupted by a car horn coming from the car park, Melody looked back and grabbed her sister.

"Mum's here, we have to go, thank you for the information Alfie!"

I nodded as I watched her get into the car and drive away. I smiled and started my own journey back home.

At least I'm not alone in this big bad world of magic.
