Melody

**************

Ruby and I were silent on the way home. I told Ruby on the way to the car to not mention anything, as I wanted to find out all I could whilst my parents don't know anything.

"Hey Melody, you're going to have to babysit Ruby for tonight, Jordan and I are going out for tea. Is that alright sweetie?"

I smiled and nodded. That's perfect, that allows me to look for stuff without worrying if I'm going to be caught.

My mind wandered back to the conversation in the playground, as the magic danced on Alfie's hand, it triggered a slight memory for me, of my using my magic when I was a baby, maybe, 1 or 2 years old?

-

I remembered a man, who looked exactly like Alfie, but grown, and with an intense evil in his eyes, talking to my parents and some other people I don't remember well, one looked like Ruby but older, it could be Georgia, yes, she's the one i've been shown pictures of, the one who gave her life for my mum. Ruby was there too, very very young, in Georgia's arms.

The memory included me crawling out of a meeting room, down a hallway, using some sort of power from the headphones I was wearing to find my parents it seems.

I remember finding my parent's, my dad was blacked out, and my mum was asleep so I tapped on the cell door to get her attention, which worked, she was very confused and very scared to see me there. I remember I did not like them being there and it made me angry.

My headphones started to glow and the aura radiated throughout my entire body, suddenly, there was a shatter as the security camera watching them broke, the handcuffs fell off their hands and the cell door swung open.

I opened my eyes and my mum was staring at me in amazement, but I went straight to my dad to make sure he was alright.

-

As I stopped reminiscing, I noticed we were pulling up outside our house. Why could I not remember my powers? Was it just age? The fact it was so long ago and so long since I used my powers that I just forgot? Or did my adopted parents do something to make me forget?

I let out a sigh as the car door opened, and I climbed out of the car and followed Ruby to the front door, waiting for Jordan and Casey to lock the car and let us in.

"What time are you going out for tea?" I asked Jordan, he looked at his watch and furrowed his eyebrows.

"Probablyyyyyyy in about an hour, need some time to make myself look handsomeeee." He answered with a grin. I rolled my eyes.

"Gonna need a lot more than an hour to do that." I chuckled, and ran inside when Jordan began to chase me whilst laughing.

"Why you little.... come here." He shouted as I ran upstairs with him hot on my tail, laughter erupting from both of us. I ran into my room and quickly shut the door, leaning on it so he couldn't get it open.

"Ha Ha, now you have even less time to look pretty!" I shouted through the closed door, I heard a laugh from the other side.

"I'll get you missy, it's common knowledge that I am the prettiest in all the land." He shrilled, walking away from the door.

"Maybe in Whoville!" I shouted, making sure he heard me, and leaning more on the door. I hear a laugh and quick footsteps leading back to the door.

"What was that? Did my loving daughter just say I am not pretty?" I heard him say, quietly.

"No no no, I did not say that. The Grinch would find you beautiful." I said back, I quickly run away from the door and hid under the covers of my bed.

I hear the door swing open and Jordan rush in, pulling the covers off of me and starting to tickle me, I was laughing so hard it was hard to breathe.

"No no no no stop please, you're pretty, you're handsome, aaaaaaahhhhhhh!" I shouted, before Jordan stopped and crossed his arms, massive grin on his face.

"Thought so."

I sat up as he started to exit the room, and stuck my tongue out at him, he did the same, before blowing me a kiss and leaving my bedroom.

I lay on my bed, catching my breath after laughing so much, and stared at the ceiling. I would have to talk to them soon, but first, I want to look around their room to see if they are hiding anything.

Suddenly, one of my school books dropped on the floor. I jumped as it hit the ground. That's strange, it was in the centre of my desk.

I got out of bed and walked over to the book, as I reached down and picked it up, a jolt of electricity shot through my hand, and I spotted a figure out of the corner of my eye, sitting on my bed.

You're nearly there

Huh, what was that? I turned to face the bed, to find it empty, no sign of anybody sitting on it apart from me mere seconds ago.

What was that? That figure, the electricity, the voice?

I looked down at the book again, which I had dropped out of shock, and picked it up again. Nothing.

That's strange, I need to find out what is going on, and to do that, I think I need to look in Jordan's and Casey's room, they were due to leave soon.

I put my hands in my pockets, and pulled out my earphones. If what Alfie said was true, I would probably need these.
