((Welcome, Author-chan has returned! Yay!
This chapter is kinda sad. R.i.p.
But, on the bright side, Vincent's not dead yet (somehow), right?))

~Vincent's POV~

Run, run, run... That was what that voice in the back of my mind was saying as I scrambled across the landscape. It was barren and snow-filled, feeling familiar and unfamiliar both at the same time somehow. I heard the slamming and locking of a door and the barking of a dog in the distance and ran faster. My heart was beating out of my chest. Laughter rang around the yard. I tripped and fell, and screamed out wordlessly into the nothingness..

And then, I awoke.

I let out a sigh of relief as I entered reality again, and flopped over in the bed. (Y/N) was there on the other side, fast asleep. I stared, taking in reality for a moment as I recovered from the nightmare.

She was so cute when she slept.

I glanced over out the window and found the sun barely coming up. I hopped out of bed, and dragged myself to get ready. It'd been just a short while since I'd been freed from the capture of my.. what, third kidnapping? Wow.

Just as I finished combing my hair, which had been very messy from my restless and nightmare-filled night but looked at least somewhat decent now, I wandered the house mindlessly, searching for something to occupy me whereas I didn't want to wake (Y/N).

In my boredom and the silence surrounding me, voices filled my brain.

Vincent...

I shook my head and made my way to the kitchen.

There's something you need to do.

I plugged the toaster that was on the counter in (((ah there's the Vincent we know and love))) and opened the cupboards, looking for some bread.

You haven't forgotten, right?

I made no reply to my thoughts. I ignored them as I tried to fix myself breakfast.

I know you haven't. You're still guilt-ridden.

I stopped for a moment.

You can't just forget.

I looked down at what I was doing. I slowly reached and unplugged the toaster.

The voice was silent.

I walked out of the kitchen and made my way to the front door. I twisted the door knob and opened the door. A cold breeze immediately hit me. I turned and grabbed a thick purple coat off the coat rack next to the door, and pulled it over my shoulders. I slipped some shoes on and was off, shutting the door gently.

The harsh winter air showed no mercy against me, seeming to just want to freeze me to death, even through my coat, but I had to do this. I knew my way.

I found it easy. I'd been up this path many times, but not yet for this reason. I pushed through trees as I trekked, until I came to a clearing that ended in a familiar cliff that peered out over the city. I closed my eyes and took it in.

I walked along the edge, until I finally saw what I was looking for.

A shiny grave stone stood alone in the clearing. I walked up to it.

"Rest In Peace:
Mike Schmidt"

I looked down at it blankly for a long time.

Finally, I managed a quiet, "I'm sorry." It only seemed to roll off my tongue and into the wind, to travel to somewhere where it was not needed.

I shoved my hands into my pockets as I silently paid my respects to this friend I'd killed. The cold wind swirled harder here, once again feeling like it was trying to kill me.

Something broke my mind away from this, though.

From behind me, someone called, "Vincent."
