~Vincent's POV~

I don't now how, or why, or even exactly when, but at some point, as I was sitting that cold dark room with my wrists tied to a couple of bedposts, I remembered everything, and I remembered it vividly.

{flashback}

It was cold. I was about to take off running again, giving back into my instincts, when someone grabbed my wrists. I stiffened under their touch as there was a chuckle and a quiet, "You should've kept running, Vincent."

Everything kicked in at that moment. I kicked at my attacker, hitting them right in the leg with my heel. But surprisingly they didn't let go.

For the first time I realized there was a black car now parked on the side of the sidewalk, tinted windows blocking the views of its insides as I was dragged toward it and the person who had ahold of me pulled the door open. They pushed me down onto the seat and I howled in pain, as my arm had twisted behind my back in the process. They just grunted as I scrambled away quickly and looked up at them.

My gaze fell on those cold, unforgiving eyes.

I stiffened a moment, then sat up swiftly and threw a punch, which was quickly caught and stopped when they grabbed my wrist. I tried to pull away, then scowled and threw my other fist. They caught it with their other hand.

"You foolish boy, you think you can somehow escape the clutches of your fate? Of what you utterly deserve!?"

"I... I don't deserve this! I don't deserve any of this!" I pulled backwards and they let go of me. I scrambled against the other door of the car, too stiff to speak anymore. My breathing was wild and jagged, then they just chuckled and lifted their head to look at another person, one whose presence I had not sensed before in my panic and one I surely wouldn't get a good look at now.

"Knock him out."

And that's when everything went black.
