Chapter 4: Is This real?

"So this was true. I didn't want to believe but now it's confirmed... I confirmed it myself." Said Sickler looking at the results displayed on the computer screen.
Mike and I just looked at each other in surprise. We knew so much but not enough to make us read whatever was on the screen.
"Bro... tell us what you found, did the virus Change her DNA?" Mike asked.

He looked at me and then back at the screen.
"Yes it did, and that's not all. Your cells have also mutated." He said showing us on the screen.
"Mutating? Do cells mutate? What happens when that happens?" I asked, all this was now confusing me.

"Well... cells do Mutate. When that happens so many things change in the host's body." Replied Sickler.
"Can that cause a person to be extra ordinary?" Mike asked. We all thought he was being paranoid.

"Like instead of just thinking, they actually see it or feel it. They develop sharp sights and hearing, in a simple statement, all their sensory organs became upgraded." Said Sickler.

"That explains why She....."
"Mike shhhh!" I interrupted Mike. I knew exactly what he wanted to say. I didn't want anyone to find out about what was happening to me...yet.
"What happened?" Sickler asked.
"Nothing to worry about?" I replied immediately.
Mike held my hand and dragged me to a corner.

"Sera, my brother is the only person who we can trust with this. He might be of big help to you." He whispered.
"I don't know Mike...I feel like I need adjust to all these changes before I can expose myself." I replied looking back and forth.
"You are not exposing yourself, you are looking for help and in order to get one, you must trust Sickler." he said.
"Alright but if anything goes wrong if he betrays me, I will hold you responsible." I said pointing my index finger at him up close.
"I don't know how that will happen but I can take the risk." He said.
"We went back to where Sickler was standing working on his desk.

"So I will let her explain things herself." Said Mike.
Sickler turning to look our way.
"Explain what?" He said moving closer.

"So since that day, I have been experiencing some kind of.... not normal capabilities." I stared not knowing the right word to use.

"Can you explain Not normal capabilities." Mike said as  Sickler looked so lost.
"What I mean is... Things have changed with me.... I can hear people's thoughts, I can pass through walls and stuffs, am suddenly trained in Defense and all that, I can climb really fast and am guessing there are still many more I have not discovered yet." I said.
Looking at Sickler's face, i wasn't able to tell if he bought it or not.
"Say something," I told him. He was just standing  there looking at me maybe  trying to understand what I just said.
"I find all these hard to believe, no offense but that has never happened before. Passing through a wall? How is that even possible?" He said.

"I believe her, I saw it myself, she passed through a closed door show him Sera." Said Mike.
I looked at Mike and back to Sickler. I tried to remember how I did at home.
I walked towards the glass door closing my eyes and went through.
"That door is opened," said Sickler walking towards me and knocks himself on the door.
"Ouch!... Wow... how did you do that?" He asked massaging his forehead because he knocked it so hard on the glass door.
"I don't know." I said.
"What else do you think you can do?" Asked Mike.

"I don't know," I said with a shrug.
"Well that's why you are here, you need help." Said Sickler. Why am I not surprised with him. His is overly egocentric.

"We will have field work training some other times but now let's work on the simple ones." Sickler said taking a pen and paper.
"What's that for?" I asked.

"Am noting down all the possible superpowers that we know about then we can mark on the ones you luckily have." He said.

"Great idea bro." Mike said.
"So let's start with X-ray Vision." He started.
He went out the iron door and asked me to look through it.
I tried so hard but all I could see was the iron door in front of me..
He got in and took his pen and paper and put X besides X ray vision.

"Next.. let's see if you can truly read minds, Mike...write down whatever you are thinking about in the next few seconds and I'll have Sera tell me what it will be then I will read the paper to see if she is correct." He said giving Mike the pen and paper.

Mike did what he was told. I concentrate so hard and I got the  idea of what was in his mind. It wasn't that clear but I got the concept of it.

"So tell me what was in Mike's head," he said taking the paper and not looking at it but at me immediately.

"Something about, Mike wanting to come work in your lab after he graduates" I said .
Sickler looking at the paper he paused for few minutes and then looked at Mike.
"Really Mike, you want to come work here?" He said with an exciting voice.
"Of course it's so cool to see you working on cures and help in solving disease outbreaks." Mike went on.

We did some more mind reading exercises.
"Mind reading....tick." Sickler said writing on the paper.
We went on and on and on testing.
"This is so interesting I can't really wait for next time, let's go to the terrace now so we can see some other great stuffs." Said Sickler.
We went out and took the elevator to the last floor up and took the stairs to the terrace.

"Ok... stand at the edge of the terrace.. not exactly at the edge but near the edge." Sickler said.
"What are we doing here.?" I asked.
"Don't worry you just face away from us then I will throw you this sponge ball at you and you dodge it, without looking back." He said.

I moved away from them and did as he said.
"So I will throw the ball without notifying you." He said.
I was waiting so eagerly on the ball and suddenly I went down to a push up pause.
"Wow... how did you dodge that ball? Do you have compound eyes.." Mike asked.
"Have you ever gone to that position before? That was so fast and you dodge the ball too." Sickler said amazed.
"Well I wish I could tell you how I did that but I don't know what to say." I said sincerely.
"You are very lucky Sera." Said Mike.
"At least for now. We don't know yet what this will do to me next," I replied.
