ACT ONE
•••••
Much to Nina's dismay running barefoot in the middle of the night with a stranger by her side wasn't the most wackiest idea but she gave condolence to it.
She clutched onto her robe tightly as her fingers were slowly turning into icicles , and from time to time her fingers outlined the dotted material keeping her at ease .
She observed all the city lights in awe , the abstract dotted buildings in the distance which lined the skyline perfectly .Her feet stood planted on the grazing concrete floor that paved through the streets .Finnick seemed to notice her star struck reaction and gave a slight hint of a smile.
"It gets better ". He responded almost excitedly .
"what could possibly get better than this ?" she said in a near- whisper.
Instead of replying Finnick simply grabbed her hand and fled the situated street they were in .The only sound that graced their ears was the rough grazing of Finnick's boots against the concrete and the tiny padding of Nina's bare feet which were frankly , quite numb .
" We kind of have to hurry, even a city like this has it's curfew" he spoke in between breaths .
Nina couldn't fathom as to who would put a curfew on a city as beautiful as this .It seemed that even the best things have a certain limit . Thankfully after a while the running seemed to stop to a halt and the pair stood outside a hostile like building which was overan with ivory spearing all over the walls , even dotted with cobwebs there and then .Nina couldn't' help but seem weary of the situation .
She gave a suspicious sideways glance at Finnick who simply gave a sheepish grin in return before responding .
" uh the elevators don't work "
And just then did she realise how tall the building was . It loomed over the city just like one of the skyscrapers she was so stricken in awe by . however she just proceeded to nod instead .
She followed Finnick cautiously inside and to her surprise it was not near as bad as she imagined It to be . There was no sign of two metre thick floor dust nor was there that stench of oldness in the air , it was quite pristine to that matter compared to the outside .
But she did not question it , Finnick bought her to the stairwell and went ahead , slowly climbing the stares in an attempt for Nina to follow him .
However Nina stood put , her robe nearly hanging off and her hands were placed on her hip looking at the endless stairwell in pity.
"uh - Finnick" she called slowly ."yes?" He turned around already a whole stair case in and all Nina could see is his head popping out from the railing .
"May I ask how long is this stairwell?".
But she was met with was silence ,
until Finnick finally called down ." I'd say pretty long, but it will take longer if you just stand there wallowing in self pity "
Nina could hear the tint of amusement laced with his voice when he spoke .
"Whatever " she muttered amusingly as she started climbing the stairwell , to which Finnick had already completed .

Most likley two pulled muscles and a knee fracture later , she somehow managed to get to the top , which left her breatheless .But not from the physical activity she just did but to the sighting infront of her .
She was on a roof , the building was in fact planted on the outskirts of the city , therefore creating the perfect view of the capitol .
"How did you even find this place " she asked meerley making her way to the ledge .
"Well i figured it looked different from all the other buildings , people tend to not look after the things they don't need ". he answered .
"So you never got to tell me what you were doing in the middle of the night all dressed up" she gave a slight smirk to her question.
He rubbed the back of his neck "
uh you see the sweet life of a victor is attending a lot of parties you necesseraliy do not want to attend"Nina's elbow was resting on the thick wall on the ledge , her hand on her chin and lips parted slightly , and upon Finnicks words realisation struck her .Her parents and brother who were waiting so patiently back home knowing their daughter won but not being able to reunite .
" when can i see my family , do you think ?" Nina asked not really wanting to know the answer .
Her question triggered a sense of sympathy as it washed across Finnick's face.
"most likley not until the victory tour but you can't stay long either "There was something in his voice that made Nina wonder , there was most likley a hearbreak after it .
And it made Nina realise that the victory tour was less than two months away , two painful months of just sitting in the capitol surrounded by pointless luxuries and antics that can please no one but the capitol freaks themselves .
"what do you think of the city?" his question filled the comfortable silence that fell.
"I think its all about percpective , i mean for us this is something breath-taking something pleasing to the eye and something beautiful. However for them it's normal , people pass this everyday and don't even think twice because they take everything for granted." Nina breathed out in speculation as she locked eyes with Finnick .
" Cities live on i suppose except that the people don't .Maybe one day they'll appreciate it " he spoke up , and satisfied with the answer Nina changed the subject.
"so what's your favourite colour ?" She quipped up , and smiled at the weird look Finnick was giving her .
" My favourite colour ? " he repeated , Almost puzzled .
" Yes , colours can tell you a lot about a person you know " Nina answered back as she egged Finnick on to answer the simplest of questions.
" I'd say the colour of sunsets because they create a wave of colours that end the day in the deepest and purest form which i could possibly not choose from " He answered back and Nina couldn't help but think that he didn't express him self in that way so often .
" Well you see" Nina began and she watched as Finnick now turned his face to look at Nina in full depth . She gave a small smile before continuing .
" mine's the complete opposite I love sun rises beacuse everything's the brightest and most natural shade of colour . It's the beginning of a new day - it's the colour of hope "
Finnick chuckled at the statement and pointed towards the skyscraper buildings where a mix of yellow and orange were peeking
"you mean that colour ?"
