Troye POV
I took the stairs two at a time, stopping at the bottom to catch my breath before turning into the kitchen.
My parents had paused their movements as soon as I'd entered the room, their sixth senses sniffing out the anxiety I was trying so hard to keep from showing. I dismissed their concerns, informing them I'd been worried about missing the pancakes that were piled high on the kitchen counter.
Tyler joined us ten minutes later, smelling of the strawberry and lime body wash my sister had stored in the upstairs bathroom. All evidence that anything had been amiss gone from his body language as he sauntered through the door and demanded the plate I'd saved for him.
"So, boys, how did you both sleep? I imagine you're thankful to have your whole bed back to yourself again Troye?" My mums question was innocent enough, but it hit me hard and I wasn't sure how to respond without giving away my honest feelings.
"Uh, yeah, sure. It was a little cold, seeing as I'd gotten used to someone else there, but the extra blanket Tyler gave me helped heaps!"
"Ah yes, we saw those tweets this morning... we were wondering if you'd come to his rescue Tyler." The glimmer in my fathers eyes had my own glaring back at him. The cheek of this man. Honestly.
"Well, of course... I could hardly ignore his plea for help could I?"
My parents shared a quick glance of triumph while Tyler focused on the plate in front of him, a light blush colouring his cheeks as they praised him for his charitable actions.
"What are you two up to?" I glowered at them, determined to figure out the meaning behind their line of questioning this morning.
"What are you talking about Troye?" Shock crossed mums features, but I knew better. I'd seen that look a thousand times before. They were up to something. Nothing good could come of this.
"C'mon Ty, let's go eat the rest of our breakfast outside and leave these two to their scheming."
I piled my plate high with an assortment of breakfast foods before dragging a protesting Tyler from the kitchen.
"Hey, woah, slow down for a second Troye, I'm going to drop my plate!"
I immediately let him go, a soft apology falling from my lips before I continued leading him outside.
We'd been sitting silently for a few minutes before Tyler spoke up.
"What was that back there?"
"My mum and dad are up to something. I don't know what, but whenever they get this certain look in their eyes and they start acting all," I waved my hands back and forth in front of me as I struggled to find the right words. "I don't know, shifty and questiony and stuff... when they get like that, something always happens, and it's never good."
"Oh, right the kitchen thing. Well, if it helps, I didn't really notice anything unusual. Their questions seemed innocent enough to me."
"Trust me, something's up with them." He shrugged, stating I knew my parents better than he did, and that it might be best to just sit back and wait for whatever it was to happen.
It took me a few minutes to realise Tyler hadn't been talking about my parents odd behaviour.
If not that, then what?
Bedroom.
My fork froze halfway tot my mouth as my brain finally supplied an answer.
Could he... did he want to talk about our almost kiss?
