Chapter 7- I Stood up for Myself

"Sakura, I-"

"I did the project, Sasuke. Don't worry about it." I say, looking away from him. "All you have to do is talk."

"Listen, Sakura. I heard and saw everything that happened." He seriously says.

"Y-y-you did? Just forget about it." I respond, turning back to Kurenai sensei.

"I can't just forget about it, Sakura." He says a minute later.

"Yes, you can. If you know what's good for you, you would." I reply, copying notes.

"Sakura, I'm starting to care." He says, and my eyes widen, heart starting to beat.

"H-how can THE Sasuke Uchiha care?"

"Whatever. I remember the past."

He remembers... He remembers... He remembers...

"Y-you remember me?"

"Hn."

"Duck butt." I frown.

"Pinky." He says, and my eyes widen at the old nickname.

"Sasuke-kun! Can I call you duck butt!"

"Why?"

"Cuz your hair looks like a duck's butt!"

"Hn... Only if I get to call you pinky."

"Deal!"

"Y-you do remember." I whisper, barely audible. The bell rings and I pick up my stuff, walking to math and then biology during third.

"Good morning, Sakura."

"G-good morning, L-lady Tsunade." I stutter, and she immediately notices something is wrong.

"What is it, Sakura?"

"C-can I talk to you, in private?" I ask and she nods as we go to the back of the room. I take a deep breath and tell her. "M-my father w-wants me to quit working at the hospital. He wants me to take business classes."

She ponders for a minute. "And is that what you want to do?"

"N-no. I still want to work under you. I've never been happier." I respond.

"Alright, we'll work something out. For now, don't stress yourself, Sakura." She says, and I nod.

"Thank you for always being there for me, Shishou." I reply, and she smiles.

"I'll always be here for you."

"Alright, class. Today you will finish the lab by the procedures on the board, and then when you are finished, you will read chapter five in the textbook."

"Hai, Dr. Senju."

"Naruto! You baka!" I yell at him as I try to fix his mistake.

"S-sorry, Sakura-chan."

"Hn. Dobe." Sasuke adds.

I roll my eyes as we complete the lab and start independently reading. I finish after ten minutes and realize there's still half the class left, so I pull out my medicinal herbs book and memorize again.

There's got to be some loophole in my fathers' words...

I sit down at the usual table for lunch, next to Hinata. We have small talk until Kiba and Shino sit down nearby. Ino and Sai sit down next to me and Naruto and Sasuke sit across from Hinata and I... This is somewhat odd...

"Hi Sakura-chan, Hinata!" Naruto says, and I smile at him.

"Naruto." I acknowledge. Tenten, Temari, Choji, Lee, Neji and Shikamaru join us.

"So, did you hear about Gaara and his new girlfriend?" Ino asks, and I somewhat tense at the name.

"W-what? That little brat's got a girlfriend?!"

"Yes, and her name is Aiko."

"That's a pretty name." I respond.

"Oh... And do you want to know the best part?" Ino asks, and I nod. She leans close to my ear and whispers, "Sasuke broke up with Karin."

My eyes widen in shock. "W-w-what? Really?!" She nods and a hint of a smile makes its way onto my lips. We finish eating and talking for the period, and then the bell rings for sixth period. I walk to history and sit down next to Sai, us two arguing about him calling me ugly.

As the bell is about to ring, Karin walks in, glaring at me. She sits down right next to me and I ignore her, continuing to talk to Sai.

"Pst! Haruno!" She says, but I still ignore her. "Haruno! Haruno!" I roll my eyes, turning to look at her.

"What?"

"Fuck you!"

"Woah. What did I do this time?" I ask her.

"You took Sasuke-kun from me!"

"I did no such thing." I respond, turning away from her and smiling as the teacher starts the lesson. But it seems that my luck ran out. After school, Karin and her friends cornered me.

"Bitch." She says, and I roll me eyes.

"What are you going to do, Karin? You can't hurt me."

"I'll prove you wrong." She says, and a fist goes flying centimeters from my face. I gulp as her friends try to hit me too, and I dodge every single one of them. Karin punches me in the face, and I glare at her. I'm outnumbered. I need to wait for an opening. "You're not going to fight, Haruno?" She asks as she lands another punch in my gut. I stay silent as her friends try to grab my hands, and I dodge them. "Say, something, dammit!" Karin yells, hitting me again. "You fucking pink haired naïve little bitch!" And that got me. I glare at her, venom racing through me.

"What did you just call me?"

"A pink haired naïve little bitch." She repeats, and I ball my hands into fists. "Did that upset you, Haruno?"

"Oh, it makes me pissed, when really you're the bitch, red head." I respond, and lash out at her. I punch her across the face and she goes flying into the lockers, her friends staring at me, incredulous. I glare at them. "Why are you still here?!"

"S-sorry!" They squeak, running away. I smile triumphantly as I walk away from the mess.

"Sakura-chan! That was awesome!" Naruto yells, and my eyes widen.

"Y-you saw that?" I nervously ask, rubbing the back of me head.

"Yeah, and so did Teme!"

My eyes widen. Will he kill me? "Hn. Impressive." He says, and I smile.

"Thanks, guys." I reply, sitting down and grabbing the first aid kit out of my backpack. I patch up my wounds as Lady Tsunade comes up to me.

"Good job, kiddo." She ruffles my hair, walking past and to an unconscious Karin. "I'll take care of it from here."

"Hai, Shishou!" I bow, turning to Sasuke and Naruto. "Let's go?"

"Yep!"
