She ran. She ran as far as she could from that retched house and never turned back. She ran before her emotions could overcome her, and knocked on the only door she thought of.
"Granny Chiyo, I'm leaving. Dad's dead, and the mission calls." I tell her.
"Alright, sweetie."
"Sakura! Please bring Gaara back to us." Kankuro says from the living room, and I nod.
"I'll do everything in my power."
I walk to the outskirts of town, not very far from their house, and look back upon the city.
I never got to say goodbye...
I'll be back, Sasuke.
"Sakura-chan!" Naruto yells, running towards me. "Granny Chiyo told me what's going on. You can count me in, dattebayo!" Two seconds later, Granny Chiyo appears.
"I thought I told you that you needed rest!"
"Just because I'm old doesn't mean I can't knock some people around." She says.
"Where's Teme?"
"I didn't tell him. Mikoto- I mean mom told me not to." I glumly respond.
"Well then, I guess I shall be your protector!" He says, smiling.
"Hey, I'm strong, you Baka!" I yell, and he quickly nods.
"I know I'm just saying-"
"Yo, you two Bakas, get your asses over here!" Granny Chiyo yells.
"Hai!" Naruto and I quickly respond, sweatdropping at how fast she managed to get ahead.
The whole time, I worry about how this will affect my relationship with Sasuke.
We stop at a small inn for the night and I sit on my bed, pulling out my phone to see 20 missed calls from Sasuke, 13 texts.
"You shouldn't call him." Granny Chiyo says, and I look at her. "He will want to follow you."
"B-but..." I start to tear up. "I love him."
"I know you do, sweetheart. But this mission is something only you can do. He will only get in the way of you and the mission." She stands up and leaves the room, and I immediately fall back onto the bed, crying into the pillow.
As I am alone for a while, I ponder over dad's last words.
"The Akatsuki is a group of ten. Sasori, Hidan, Kakuzu, Diedara, Itachi, Nagato, Kisame, Konan, Tobi, and Zetsu. They are very formidable foes, who are currently planning on destroying the leaf. And you are in their way. They will stop at nothing to kill you."
Itachi...
Itachi wouldn't do anything, right? There's no way that he would join a criminal organization; his father is the head of the Uchiha!
On that note, I yawn, eyes slowly dropping until all I see is darkness.
