Chapter 6:

Like a gentleman, Jake open the door for me and helped me out of the car. I wasn't sure if he would carry me in the house or if he would help me walk. Jake's parents liked me but it would be too weird to walk through the door in his arms.
I stood up carefully and grab for his arm, one arm holding his hand and the other on his upper arm. Not trying to be a creep, I made sure not to squeeze his arm too much.
We walked through the door that connected to the house. As usual, Jake was right about the house being better on the inside. The door was attached to the kitchen where Mrs. Robins was baking at the red counters.
It had been a few years since I've seen Mr. Robbins but I never met Jake's mother. Looking at Jake next to his mom I could definitely see where the bright blue eyes came from.
Mr. Robins walked in shortly after with a remote in one hand in a book and another. "Hey there girly! It's so good to see you again." He walked over and gave me a hug that I imagine most dads would do. I would never know though. "Did Jake tell you about your part to the house? It's going to have a bathroom, a closet for girls, and two rooms. Don't worry about appliances, we got you covered."
Monica (Jake's mom) cut in to finish his sentence. It seemed he didn't mind as much as Jake himself did. "The room should be done in two days at the most. Jake we be so kind to offer you his bed until then. And-"
"Mom," Jake warned. She was babbling and he did not like it. I found it pretty funny. I'd never met someone who could talk so fast and yet still be kind. Comparing my old life to the new one I'm about to start, I can already say this one is going to be way cool!
"I'm sorry Jake, maybe you should show Ella some options for where to sleep. Poor girl looks like you took her for a 12 hour walk in the woods." Just then I realized it was already 7:45.
Usually at home I would be getting in the shower for my nightly routine. It only takes me 15 minutes to shower. The other hour I have left would be used for teeth care, drying my hair, and hopping into bed.
But then again I can hardly stand, I don't have school, and the roads haven't been set.
In the next half hour I knew where every room in the house was. Jake offered me his bed for the next two nights so my room is still being built.

At 6 o'clock, three alarms went off for Jake to get up, get his parents up, and make breakfast. When I set up I recognize the new pair of clothes that wasn't there when I passed out. Mister Kind came back into the room with two plates in his hand. " here you go L's. Bacon, eggs, and toast. And yes the eggs are scrambled just how you like 'em."
"Thank you" I said before I realized it; I have my voice back! My beautiful bird voice was back!
"Oh my goodness Ella! You can talk again just like before! I'm so happy for you. I hate to ruin the moment but I have to head off to school now. See you in a few hours."
